It's a nerve-reckingly tense and explosively suspenseful film.A riveting and full-throttle action-thriller. A near perfect film. A masterpiece. A full amount of hold on to your breath excitement that never lets up. An emotionally-charged, heart-pounding and unforgettably powerful...( read more)

A moving film that contains some of the most tense scenes I've seen in a long time. Although it begins to slow down towards the end, an otherwise very enjoyable movie

Intense, deactivating bombs in the Middle East. A lot of surprises in this film especially with the casting. Some parts could have been left out but overall this movie hits you in the face with realism.

One helluva tension-packed rolla coaster. Had many sub plots that kinda went nowhere, but the overall theme was awesome.
Loved it, hated it, blew its brains out.
Just kidding.
Didn't hate it. -

The Hurt Locker has no real plot to follow. For once, this is it's main strength. It details the heroism and bravery of men constantly on the edge of death. Bigelow uses her action credentials to create some of the most unbearably tense scenes in recent memory. The entire film is...( read more)

Hm, I don't understand why all the fuss.
The movie follows an american bomb squad during a number of missions in Bagdad, Irak.
Reminded me of "Black Hawk Down", without beeing that dynamic, but it's easier to follow the story in this case, even if for much of the duration of th...( read more) -

I had really high hopes for this movie, as it wasn't following the average soldier in a war setting. I guess I was hoping that there would be more learning of his craft, as opposed to just him going and doing the job. It took me a while for the movie to set in after I saw it, but...( read more)

Hands down the best Iraq war movie done so far. Tells a story about soldiers that I don't think Hollywood wants to get out there. And no "Bush is the devil!" messages! Imagine that.

Good with a great ending. Though one or two Hollywood cameos jeopordise its documentary look.

a little bit below expectation (just a tiny bit..)
in my opinion, this is Star trek disguised as a middle east war movie. The films depends completely on the relationship of two main characters, Sgt William James, the cocky kirk-like adrenaline junkie (played with a certain charism...( read more)
Critic Reviews
Psychologically acute and thrillingly dramatic, The Hurt Locker blows every other Iraq war movie off the screen. full review
The Hurt Locker is a spellbinding war film by Kathryn Bigelow, a master of stories about men and women who choose to be in physical danger. full review
In the end, Bigelow's point of view is what's most interesting about The Hurt Locker. The picture's strength lies in the details she focuses on. full review
A first-rate action thriller, a vivid evocation of urban warfare in Iraq, a penetrating study of heroism and a showcase for austere technique, terse writing and a trio of brilliant performances. full review
Finally, Hollywood has made a great film about the Iraq War. full review
When it comes to getting an audience's attention, there's nothing quite like blowing up a major star within the first five minutes of a movie. full review
If The Hurt Locker is not the best action movie of the summer, I'll blow up my car. full review
Bigelow has successfully built a vision of war rarely seen on screen, a visceral nearly first person perspective of war where the rush of combat is a welcomed relief. full review
