The Inglorious Bastards was the alternate title for the Italian adventure yarn Counterfeit Commandos. The main characters are five soldiers facing court-martial in World War II France. The quintet consists of Bo Svenson, Fred Williamson, Peter Hooten, Michael Pergolami, and Jackie Basehart. The men escape, heading to the safety of the Swiss border; along the way, they pull off several random acts of above-and-beyond heroism. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"A boisterous air of irreverence makes Inglorious Bastards fascinating in its own right."
‑ Michael Nordine, Not Coming to a Theater Near You
"It's a platoon thriller laced with the anti-hero cynicism of spaghetti westerns and the lurid violence of the post-Wild Bunch era..."
‑ Sean Axmaker, Seanax.com
"A Peckinpah-ish variation on The Dirty Dozen, not terribly original but with well-executed World War II battle scenes, nudity and plenty of coarse talk."
‑ Stan Hall, Oregonian
"Castellari's film is a Pilgrim's Progress, a journey by the irredeemable toward some manner of salvation."
‑ Bill Gibron, PopMatters
