For those of you who aren't Asian, you probably wouldn't be interested in this movie at first glance. No offense, but I totally empathize. I mean, you see them enough every day at school, don't you? =P Juuust kidding. But keep in mind, that I have a feeling this movie only really...( read more) strikes a chord in those who understand what some of these women have gone through.

I just loved this movie. It wasn't corny, it was poetically scripted and I loved how each mother-daughter pair got their own fifteen minutes to explain their relationship, what the mother wants to pass on to the daughter, the feelings of the daughter and how she learns from her culture. Sounds a little boring, I know, but I found it interesting because they switched time periods all the time (it wasn't confusing at all, btw).

I can't exactly explain why I like this movie so much. It just touched me. =) I recommend this as well.

many similarities to my own family history - lots of drama. wayne wang did a great job of disstilling out the pivotal moments in each woman's story to bring her to the present.

Suyuan: That bad crab, only you tried to take it. Everybody else want best quality. You, your thinking different. Waverly took best-quality crab. You took worst, because you have best-quality heart. You have style no one can teach. Must be born this way.

Powerful. Almost too much - but not quite! What do we really know about our parents' struggles and would it matter? This movie suggests it does. I am writing my memories of my dad and mom so that they will never be just two names on a tombstone in Utah.
