This was such a beautiful movie. Granted, I have not yet read the book, I thought it was quite magnificent. Heart warming story, great cinematography, good soundtrack-- pretty much amazing in every aspect. I saw no flaws. It was simply beautiful.
Amazingly, one of my favorite books was actually done justice on film. Obviously there are a few disappointments I have with the transition, but overall it's quite well done.
I've never been happy with a movie of a book, 'Kite Runner' is no exception. My problem is I see the movie as the same thing as the book, and I'm always dissapointed with changes made. 'Kite Runner' is at times word for word from the book, and at others just a brief summary, or just completely omitted.
Beautifully filmed, interesting insight in Afghan history, but too emotional and very stereotype: the bad guys (Russians, Taliban) are very bad, the good guys (Amir's father, Hassan) are saints. Main character Amir is an unsympathetic wimp.
The book was so much more moving and interesting than the movie is. There was little emotional connection with the characters in the film and the story was way too simplified. I wasn't impressed with this film at all.
Good Quotes: Every Sin is a version of theft, when you lie to someone you are stealing truth from them; children are not coloring books that you can fill all the right colors (or traits) that you want into
The movie begins on a high note, its first 45 minutes are pretty good, but i felt that the other half was kinda boring. Still, the movie's decent enough. I was surprised cuz this film has one of the most HEARTBREAKING scenes i've ever seen. If u have seen the film, u'll know which scene im talking about. I really liked the friendhip between the two boys, especially Hassan. Not an excellent film, but a good experience.
This attempts to capture the story the novel tells with some finesse. It explores the repercussions of an act of cowardice early on in life and how it shapes the main character's decision making later on.
I liked this movie, but I LOVED the book. I try not to compare, but you miss so much without having read the book. Baba is one of the great literary characters of all time and he is glossed over the movie.
I don't know if it helps not knowing the actors, but I think the performances are just great. This is a story worth telling, and in this case it was told just right.
Good story....but personally I think it went too easy on the lead character....can't give away my true comments w/o spoiling it. Was heart breaking in parts.
excellent, excellent, excellent movie. did i say it is excellent. what a movie. it is a great movie about friendship and the to0rmoils of a country which was invaded and how one family had to leave another stay behind but eventually needed to get reuninted because of circumstances beyond their control. there is a small part about 3 minutes long which is a bit distrubing because it has to do with child abuse (i will not really get into it), but besides this scene the movie is very well written and acted, the scenes are incrediblebly well shot, and it is a movie for the whole family except for that scene/ i highly recommended this movie.
this is an amazing film, the photography and the images of afghanistan, the kite flying scenes are really exciting, as well as the kids will stay with you forever. the issue of loyalty to your friends, betrayal and redemption are explored as is the talibans occupation of afghanistan, it was interesting to see the differences to when the country was free of taliban rule to when it was controlled by them in the later moments. there are moments of joy and moments of sadness but they are all performed with such energy by the largely unknown cast that this makes the whole stiory so believable, at times it felt as though i was missing things as it felt like a condensed version of a larger story but i think I will not definitely read the book. at times hard to watch but in the end ultimately rewarding it is a must see film for anyone who has a friend.
whoa. this movie has been here since like forever. waiting for me to rate it. and i never did because it doesnt seem very interesting and because i have never even heard of it. now, finally i can rate it. i still have not seen it. and i have still never heard of it, but it has to be rated. it atleast deserves that////right.
I find the story very touching, but I believe the book must have been better than the movie... the movie appears to be a bit oversimplified. The actors have all done a very good job though.
When I watched this movie I was happily surprised that It stayed so true to the book. It is a brilliant film based on a brilliant book and has such a human touch. The pure emotion of it is sue to make your cry. Amir is essentialy the hero of the book but its Hassan's silent sacrifice, courage and loyalty that will amaze you. The acting is superb, espcially the two children who really portray Amir and Hassan how I imagined them to be. The only thing that I was disappointed with is that it tells the story to simply and nothing was ever simple in the book. It doesn't deal with the emotional torture that Amir goes through his whole life well enough and all loose ends are tied up. Still, this is a movie well worth seeing, but remember to bring a box of tissues with you!
a beautiful, touching movie. a simple, dramatic story about friendship, loyalty, and identity from a perspective that's fresh, original, and eye-openingly startling. beautifully shot with some very good acting, particularly Amir's father. a gripping must-see, regardless of whether or not you've read the book.
I don't know if that was how the book wanted to do it. If anythin, Amir's redemption is totally rushed and rather unlikely. The fake kite-flyin scenes made me feel short-changed too. Poor kids, I hope they got paid right in the end. Studio people, stop rippin people off!
