The script is full of razor sharp one-liners, as well as having good performances and an inventive plot. A truly great first chapter of a franchise that never was.
Not a life changing experience but who cares?Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans make a good team in this movie,Chelsea Field is perfect in a limited role as the detective's wife, Danielle Harris -great as the insolent 13 year old daughter.I've seen it years ago and i saw it again last night.Highly enjoyable!
this is one of my favorite movie with bruce willis and damon wayans who together will search and catch the killer after football player suicide & the stripper got killed.
great action film ever. nice job.
I liked this one...not a far fetch role for Bruce to play a cop who is trying to get to the bottom of a crime...in the process has to save his daughter and takes on the help of Damon Wayans a X football player. Drugs, guns and crude humor make up this one.
wow what a cracker of a movie..this is really enjoyable 2 watch this has loads of action throughout the movie there is no bad part in this movie this is all a entertaining movie its great because bruce willis is a great actor the car chases in this movie are all kewl 2 watch throughout n its really enjoyable
After the disappointing outcome of Bruce Willis' prior film, Hudson Hawk, I feel that Willis redeemed himself with style with this first-class combination of violence and mayhem. The Last Boy Scout is a substantially entertaining action romp that will not disappoint fans of the genre. A cynical down-and-out private investigator named Joe Hallenbeck (Willis) is now reduced to the life of an alcoholic. He has an unfaithful wife (Field) and a young daughter (Negron) who despises him. There isn't much you could say about the plot without spoiling the whole thing, but basically Joe teams up with an ex-quarterback named Jimmy Dix (Wayans) to solve a murder that could be linked to an excessive level of corruption between a crooked politician and the owner of a pro football team. The film's thin, almost non-existent plot was the only real drawback on an otherwise damn fine production. The screenplay is a Shane Black product without a shadow of a doubt; high levels of profanity and an enormous amount of graphic violence. The dialogue is witty, sharp and quite hilarious at times as well. Shane Black did an extraordinarily great job in the screenwriting department. Tony Scott was still in his youth when he directed this film, but I liked his style a lot better here. Scott's direction is quite accomplished; skillfully setting the tone and atmosphere of every scene. The action scenes in particular were lensed really well. Bruce Willis is in his trademark role. Sure he's gotten typecast but I can never get enough of his fabulous foul-mouthed, quick witted character. Willis grows into his character perfectly. Damon Wayans made an impressive side-kick for Willis. He also has his moments. The Last Boy Scout is one of the best action flicks of the early 90s. It's not a masterpiece, nor will it ever be regarded as one, but it most certainly achieved what it set out to do: entertain. It's exceedingly violent with a lot of carnage and mayhem (not to mention explosions and guns); in short this is one for the sheer delight of action lovers. Because of the film's gritty graphic violence and style, I found myself having a great time watching this one. In all honesty if Willis' character was named John McClane and it was marketed as a Die Hard sequel it would fit into the series perfectly. The only thing it's lacking would be a meaty plot. In tradition with Die Hard and other films of the genre, this film makes for a great night out at the movies. A great one to rent when you have a bunch of mates to watch it with. Highly recommended, especially for fans of the Die Hard series. (R)
Bloody great film!! This is the movie I first fell in love with Bruce Willis.. Action, comedy... Great chemistry between him n Damon. I'd forgotten how cool this is.
These are the kind of movies I grew up on. Funny with plenty of action and great chemestry. One of the best partnerships in a movie since Leathal Weapon.
A typical Bruce Willis movie, lots of action, lots of sarcasm and funny jokes.Totally enjoyable and u must see the chemistry between BRUCE WILLIS and DAMON WAYANS.
Plot: A down and out cynical detective teams up with down and out ex - quarterback try and solve a murder case involving a pro football team and a politician..
A very enjoyable guilty-pleasure macho-actioner that benefits from having a very fun script, and an actuall good buddy chemistry between Willis and Wayans. Very fun villians, Halle Berry gets killed and Chelsea Field was attractive in a very odd way.
An explosive action-packed thrill machine. Powerful. Gritty. Exciting. Original. Outragiously funny. A tounge in cheek, character driven action flick thats hard to resist. Bruce Willis and Damon Wayne are fantastic. They play each other off perfectly as a great and charasmatic buddy team. A awsome adreniline pumping rush that wont quit for a minute. Fast paced and totally fun. A great entertainment ride.
Of all his movies, this is one of the ones I can watch time and time again, and never get tired of it. Of course, Bruce is a tremendous actor and I have never been disappointed with any of his movies. Absolutely Love It! Love It!
Definitely not Willis' best, but not his worth either. Typical 80's action, even if it's from the 90's :) I love it. So, shut off all logic and just enjoy the silly thing!
A fun little action flick, with a lot of "hey it's that guy/gal" moments, as a lot of the peripheral actors turn up in later, more familiar films. Danielle Harris in a cutely awkward stage was a standout in that respect, as I spent half the film wondering why she looked so familiar.
I allwas thing of Die hard wen i see this movie..but is even better then that..whit Damon Wayans its really good..action packet Moveie in Brus Willis Style
For years I thought this was an action flick. I was actually pleased to see it was more of a classic detective/noir story. Now if only they had committed to that...
