Noah Dugan (Elliott Gould) is a pilot in need of escaping his creditors and he agrees to fly the animals to their destination. Bobby and the missionary sneak on board and the plane crash-lands on another island on which two Japanese soldiers are still fighting World War II. The story veers ever more into fantasy as the Japanese and the pilot join together to make a boat out of the plane with the goal of taking every animal with them into uncharted waters. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

, Time Out
There must be a computer in the Disney studios programmed to produce live-action shooting scripts at the drop of various switches.
-
Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
Parents know Disney movies are OK to send the kids to because there won't be any nudity or profanity. But isn't it also poisonous for kids to be exposed to stupid characters, lame-brained plots and humorless 'gags?'
-
Douglas Pratt, DVDLaser
It is a formula effort, mixing safe thrills and pleasantries, and is fairly harmless entertainment.
-
, TV Guide's Movie Guide
Another Disney family film that stresses (to the point of ridiculousness) the importance of treating animals kindly.
