  All the women (besides Anna played by the timeless Blythe Danner) are caricatures. Lisa's just a bitch on wheels, and Jenna's knife-wielding outbursts are all too melodramatic and one-note (not a fault of Jacinda Barrett's per se). She is described as being "like a guy" (what, like those sporty-sexy lesbians who will marry your boyfriends?), but never does that actually come through in her actions. If pregnancy hormones are to blame, there should nevertheless be layers to the outbursts. The male characters are all interesting: from sex-god Kenny to hapless schmuck Izzy. I especially dig Casey Affleck's Chris, stuck in an unhappy marriage and amateur fatherhood. The entire sequence of him having to keep Michael's secret about cheating on Jenna but not wanting to lie is painfully awkward, thus funny. I'd be more okay with this movie if it just stuck with the thirty-somethings. Michael's affair with Kim provides an inciting incident, but nothing really happens besides kissing in the rain and a mix CD (come on!). Kim is written to be so twee and lame, and Rachel Bilson bats her doe-eyes through it to no great effect.

  Jenna and Michael are in love and are sincerely committed to each other. When he learns that Jenna is pregnant, he's overwhelmed initially. However, after a while, he begins to panic. He's confused since things are going his way, as planned, and life holds no surprises for him. Although he doesn't admit it to Jenna, he begins to doubt how long their relationship will last, especially when he's surrounded by friends (and even Jenna's mother) going through crisis in their relationship. When Kim enters his life, he falls for her only to realize that he loves only Jenna. So, will he be able to make things right and save their relationship? Sounds conventional, doesn't it? Well, it is. Besides, it's so full of cliches. (I wish they'd managed to avoid them. But then, we wouldn't be having a film, would we? Yet, at the very least, they could have reduced its proportion; there surely was no need for such an ample quantity.) Nevertheless, the movie does have its fair share of funny moments and witty dialogues. Even after undergoing all the cliches, I didn't find the movie terrible. In fact (and to my own surprise, don't ask me why because I don't know that myself), I found it entertaining enough. I won't comment about the lead pair, but the supporting cast was incredible, with the exception of Blythe Danner. Whether or not the movie is any good, I'm the final judge on that. And I guess I'm gonna reserve its outcome until the Judgment Day. Doesn't sound too good, does it? Well then, how about this: Whether or not the movie is any good, I guess you'll have to check it out for yourself. So long.

  One should not make the mistake of comparing this to the masterpiece "Garden State" just because Zach Braff is in it, only the soundtracks are similarly excellent. No, "Last Kiss" has a whole different kind of approach to love and relationships. A circle of friends in their late 30s are in more or less steady relationship, some with babies or babies on the way, others coping with break ups or enjoying random sex. Braff's character is tempted by an adorable girl while his pregnant girlfriend tells her parents the happy news. Said parents are having their own problems...in short: the movie is a bit unfocused in the first half, trying to combine too many stories into the big picture. Once the focus returns to Braff's problem of a one night stand and the aftermath the film has its best moments without falling into stereotypes. Most romantic comedies would either punish the male with an unhappy ending for cheating or make him resist in the first place. The fact that "Last Kiss" doesn't see the world as black and white but a lot more realistic may be too much to handle for people with pink glasses, but it is actually the movie's biggest asset and makes for a pretty great ending.

  I feel like I like these kinds of movies way more than I should. For one, I liked this a ton better than Garden State, and I'm not even sure why. Maybe it's because I'm secretly a whiny 30-year-old who just can't grow up. I don't need this life-affirming crap from Zach Braff of screaming on top of a garbage heap and wandering around looking for the meaning of life; I need the breakdown of a real relationship, and this is what he gives me. The thing that impressed me most about this film were the FIGHTS. Sure, Rachel Bilson is cute, and Jacinda Barrett is beautiful in a very Anne-Archer-from-Fatal-Attraction kind of way, and his friends are hilarious, and Zach Braff is - well - Zach Braff, but somehow I feel like these all could be recreated in say - Superbad. The fights really got me. They're messy, they involve lots of screaming and tension but sometimes they're necessary and I honestly think Rachel Bilson was necessary for the guy to grow up. It's about adults making real-live choices and maybe it seems inconsequential to the ACTUAL whiny 30-year-old but to this naive 17-year-old it kinda seems like what growing up is all about. It sucks, but you have to do it.

  Well, it's been a pretty good movie by the way... A movie telling us how human can sometimes do mistakes... How they sometimes can be selfish about love, how sometimes human can deeply hurt the feelings of somebody they love but they don't care about it, they just think that 'at least I'm happy'... The cast were did a brilliant job, they did this movie like it's happening to their real life... And the multi character thing did pretty well, even in the beginning it really confuses me but then it just flows and it felt great... A great lesson, knowing that a movie didn't must entertain or make us amazed but this movie teach us something, and it's great I think... The music was helping too, it was nice... But the ending gave a big question, how's the next life of the main character? Maybe some people didn't like that but remember that life doesn't always end in a happy ending...

  Simply sensational. A marvelous, wonderful, heartfelt, heart breaking and hilarious film. A smart, riveting, teriffic and outstanding mixture of romance, magnificent comedy and coming of age drama. Well written and excellently performed. Zach Braff is fantastic. Jacinda Barret is a revelation. Rachel Bilson is marvelous. Tom Wilkonson and Blythe Danner are extroadinary. Cassey affleck is teriffic. A film everyone can relate and feel what these characters are feeling. This is one excellent and bittersweet film.

The story follows a group of 30 year olds, all great friends and all with there own separate lives and struggles. We follow Michael, who has been with Jenna for 3 years and has hopes to marry her and start a family, but when Jenna announces she is pregnant, he soon realizes he isn't 100% certain of what he wants. He then makes a mistake by sleeping with a girl he met at his friends wedding. I won't go on with that synopsis, because I might ruin it for you....and you might be surprised at the direction this film takes. Paul Haggis has become a new favourite writer of mine. With his recent award winning films, I haven't had the pleasure to see his previous TV work, but I guess this is as close as I will get for now. The main reason I watched this film was because of his name on it and I was still expecting a cliché romance, as advertised....I was half wrong. Sure it goes through a similar structure and clichés for the first 2/3 of the film, but like my quote says at the beginning of this review, its how you get there that changes everything. Its not a romantic film, it is rather depressing, but thanks to some comedic touches, its watchable....but what makes its better as the film gains momentum, is the truth and the realism of the themes and the way they are tackled. Tony Goldwyn I only know as an actor, sure I have heard he has done TV directing, but I have never seen him in action. He handles the melodrama with skill and plays with the camera quite a bit, giving us some interesting camera angles. The performances (4 out of 5 main) are superb. Many are saying Zach Braff is miscast (I haven't seen the original film, so I can't say), but from the angle I was sitting, he was great, he proved he can be a dramatic actor with his film Garden State and he continues proving here. Tom Wilkinson and Blythe Danner are the striking performances in the background and Jacinda Barrett hits the dramatic note as well as she could and its promising....Rachel Bilson on the other hand has always annoyed me and she doesn't have the presence, nor the acting potential to stand alongside such great performances. The ending I felt was going to ruin the film, sure it would most definitely be predictable and sappy, but how it ends and where, is perfect, and I thank Paul Haggis for not taking it further. I cannot compare this to the original film, as I have not seen it, but I was surprised with the outcome of this film. Although I wish it had focused a little bit more on its sub-characters situations and taken a deeper road with them, the focus is on the main couple....and the way the themes are tackled, the thoughtful dialogue help the film out of its obvious cliché....and any depressing parts are balanced with a little comedy. It has moments where it is aimed at teens and will probably satisfy them, but others are sure to get something out of it. A big surprise for me and although it isn't Paul Haggis' greatest achievement, it continues to show how flexible he is.

  There were a few things from a directorial standpoint I liked and Rachel Bilson was cute enough, but other than that The Last Kiss was downright painful. Zach Braff continues his downward trajectory into douchiness, all the characters are whiny as hell (when the filmmakers decided to develop them) and the Danner/Wilkinson subplot was annoying and contrived. I was still trying to figure out why I should give a shit when the credits ran. But I did learn that it's okay to be a childish asshole if you're scared enough of growing up. But fortunately that Braffy narration at the beginning died off really quick.

  This full-drama is pretty intelligent... better than most films made about 30-somethings these days as what I was thinking of the right things. With a terrific cast blending humour, pertinence, stubborness and poignancy.

  A nice perceptive script is let down by the occasional piece of clunky dialogue and too many expendable sub-stories. Braff and Bilson are pretty good and share some nice chemistry but the film is too dull with any lack of real focus.

  i was pretty dissapointed in this flick. basically its a film about winy women on a power tripp and disfunctional men that cant take care of their own business. there isnt a single normal character in the film. i was even uncomfortable while watching this movie because none of the characters could stay out of their own way. there were a few funny lines that make the movie watcheable which is why i give more than half a star.

  A well made film. But there was something missing about it. But the strong performances from Braff and Affleck made up for it. Along with the great soundtrack. It's worth a watch.
