Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"Some would consider this version better than the 1971 remake with Charlton Heston, The Omega Man, but that isn't much of an achievement."
‑ Jonathan Rosenbaum, Chicago Reader
"price is grand"
‑ Stefan Birgir Stefansson,
"A chilling study of loneliness and an acting tour de force for Price as the last survivor of a dead race, and not exactly the feel-good movie of 1964."
‑ Jerry Renshaw, Austin Chronicle
"The best Vincent Price movie."
‑ Phil Hall, Film Threat
"If you are a fan of the way Vincent engages such tacky post-apocalypse fantasy subjects, this one should catch your fancy."
‑ Dennis Schwartz, Ozus' World Movie Reviews
"The Last Man on Earth is indeed about both life and death, creation and destruction, and the fact that each facet is as grim and uninviting as the next is a chilling statement on the way things once were and the way they might one day become."
‑ Michael Nordine, Not Coming to a Theater Near You
"Price retrata com talento a angústia e o cansaço de seu personagem, mas os vampiros ridiculamente estúpidos e a dublagem capenga boicotam seus esforços."
‑ Pablo Villaca, Cinema em Cena
"Price plays a scientist who is the last survivor on Earth after a plague has turned the rest of the population into vampires."
‑ , TV Guide's Movie Guide
"One of Vincent Price most peculiar films, made in Italy, with poor dubbing of the Italian actors and cheesy special effects"
‑ Emanuel Levy, EmanuelLevy.Com
"Flawed, but nicely grim sci-fi horror with a miscast Price"
‑ Ken Hanke, Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC)
"This first-ever adaptation of Richard Matheson's novel I Am Legend is easily the most faithful of the three; unfortunately, it is also the least entertaining."
‑ Steve Biodrowski, ESplatter
"Where the film fails as a narrative - and it fails rather mightily in places - it succeeds as a mood piece."
‑ Tim Brayton, Antagony & Ecstasy
"Worth seeing for fans of older genre movies, even though the film's pacing is often a bit too languid for its own good."
‑ James O'Ehley, Sci-Fi Movie Page
"Lesser known Price yarn has its moments."
‑ Steve Crum, Kansas City Kansan
"Instead of frights it offers a somber look at an entropic world"
‑ Shane Burridge,
