Julie Harris, one of the truly great actresses of modern times, gives a beautiful emotional performance of a much maligned and misunderstood woman, Mary Lincoln is not sugar coated in this but shown to be both compassionate and difficult but most of all a very human lady worn down by overwhelming tradegies which one on top of another would have crushed all but the strongest souls.
