If you are a fan of the short running British comedy series 'League of Gentlemen' then you will already know that this is the film that concluded the League's decade long career of comedy together.
The League are: Steve Pemberton, Mark Gatiss, Reece Shearsmith and Jeremy Dyson. The former of the three appear as 90% of the characters within the show, set in the bizarre, and often sinister, fictional town of Royston Vasey.
The plot isn't as simple as the episodes of the show, though it certainly isn't as sinister. It's funny, entertaining, original and clever: when the characters of Royston Vasey discover that their world is about to end they find a way into our real world to track down their creators and put a stop to their cancellation. Genius!
Cue all your favourite characters: Edward and Tubbs, Geoffrey Tipps, Hilary Briss and, of course, Papa Lazarou, interacting in the most outrageous way with the actors and writers that portray them.
This film no doubt makes more sense having seen the series, but it stands on its own as a fantastic comedy that is certainly worth a look.
3 stars, but five for effort. A bold experiment that doesn't entirely work but nevertheless delivers the required mix of laughs and Ewwwwww. Not anywhere near as bad as contemporary reviews indicated, and worth a look.
not many television programmes go on to make a decent movie but i thought that they did a pretty good job with the league of gentleman i mean it was funny had the characters and was just like a big episode with a few twists here and there
but it could have been alot better that it was but not bad though
