"Every tale has a beginning, but only one begins under the sea."

I've watched most of the Disney's cartoons. All are great. Also this mermaid, it's so charming. It's different from other little Mermaid stories. It deserves to watch. I like that.

In the story, there are seven mermaid princess in the underworld kingdom. Because of the queen's death, the king banned any music in Atlantica. Because of his youngest daughter, Ariel, the Atlantica becomes alive with music.

Believe me, you will appreciate it and enjoy it.

Yep, I actually saw this movie with my little sis. I used to love the original. Songs are no way as good as the original as is obvious by it's directly to video status, or its' plot.

I was really psyched to get this one when it came out. I know Disney has done a lot of direct-to-video sequels that have been disappointing, but some were actually very good (and some came so close...). I'm huge on Ariel and TinkerBell, so this is a big DVD year for me with their new prequel releases. As for Ariel's Beginning. I felt some inconsistencies, like Flounder's personality, which is only true to the original film in one deleted scene, make the whole thing feel more like it takes place in a parallel dimension. I didn't think Cummings worked as the voice of Triton (though he IS a Disney treasure, don't get me wrong), didn't feel the original songs were memorable, and didn't care for the villain's sidekick, ha. I also hate that when they make feature sequels they often disregard the TV shows that have already been created. As a prequelization, I much prefer Little Mermaid the series. As a stand alone film though, this was very good, hence the 4 stars. Jodi's voice is straight from heaven, as always, I loved Arista and that we got to see more of the sisters, and the visuals were beautiful. For a more detailed review of this one from me though, check out my amazon.com review under the name of my comic strip character, Monty_Moonlight.

Very cute movie. Went back to when Ariel was a little baby. Shows how Ariel's mother died. After the death of his wife King Triton does way with music. Of course Ariel loves music and helps his father understand. I loved the movie very musical and fun to watch. One of the BEST Disney movies.

I was excited about this movie from the first preview I saw months ago. I am happy to say it did not disappoint, especially when you consider it is a direct to video Disney prequel! The animation was absolutely gorgeous and top notch. The script was well written and very funny. The villain was entertaining and you can't help but love her sidekick. The music was great as well, although I wish there had been maybe one or two more original songs. As a passionate music lover, I could certainly relate to the storyline and the characters. Fans of the original movie will especially enjoy seeing Ariel's mother for the first time, more of her sisters and discovering how Ariel and Flounder became best friends. This film was even better than Cinderella III, which I also loved, and one I will revisit many times. Great job Disney!

I really enjoyed it! It's a great prequal to "The Little Mermaid". I especially like Flounder. I like his personality better in this movie than in previous movies. All the songs and the characters were great. This movie helped me figure out a few things, like why Ariel had no mom. All and all, it was a totally great movie.

Okay...I love Disney and that's why I watched this, lol. I know, weird for me. But anyways...
I thought it was a good movie considering that it's a prequel and most Disney sequels/prequels aren't that good. But I thought it was probably the second best sequel, only next to the Aladdin ones. If you like the Little Mermaid you should like this. And it had REALLY catchy songs!

I just finished this movie and i have to tell it...its not that bad as it may look like...they have a lot of brand new music lyrics, it doesnt repeat any previous movies songs which in my opinion its a bad idea bcuz i'll love to hear under the sea in a new version but still, its a good kids movie, the animation is all made by computer so you lost the original movie enchanted scenerio, some parts are really funny, I loved to see Ariel as a small baby, it was cute and finally its so much better than the second movie...

I wanted to see what the movie was like before just running out to the store to buy it. It was okay. All about music. I wouldn't buy it. Not nearly as good as the first one.

I thought it was really cute and it kind of answered some questions that I had about where her mother was. The first is still by far the best but this is a really good squel and I really enjoyed it even though I'm an adult.

I enjoyed it like most of the Disney movies. Although I still loved the first Little Mermaid. My kids loved it so it was something that they didn't get tired of watching.

It was nice to see Ariel's mother, and to find out whom Ariel took after. ( Ariel gets her voice from mommy). The original is still the greatest, but this, of all the sequels is the best one.

Actually sort of a weird flick, not a huge amount of singing but short enough it wasn't a huge deal. Cute none the less.
