The Little Mermaid is and will probably always be my sisters favorite Disney film, I remember her watching it as a kid atleast two or three times a day, and being completly in love with prince Eric. Having such a big influence on my young life, as I was singing along to the movie right along with her, I have to say that its an instant classic with a great story, great animation, great music, and a great villain. The film was the last hand-painted Disney film, and the first to use computer animation, and the soundtrack, which includes Part of Your World, Under the Sea, Poor Unfortunate Soul, and Kiss the Girl, are some of the best musical numbers ever put in a Disney film. But what truly set "Mermaid" apart was Ariel herself, a strong-willed young woman who set her own course in life, unlike Cinderella and Snow White, whose destinies were determined more by fate and chance than by their actions. In contrast, Ariel is the kind of heroine certain to inspire little girls to think for themselves, it certainly did for my sister who wont let anybody tell her what she can or can't do. The film heartily advocates exploring new worlds, defying expectations and risking everything in pursuit of your dreams.
look, I'm a complecated man, don't judge me just becase I watched the little mermaid and liked it. Longing to be part of the human world she can never fully join, Ariel can be seen as a prototypical Gen-X angst figure like Daria or Holden Caufield... oh who am I kidding. I can't make liking this movie sound any less weenie than it is.
This was the movie that started it all, after this was Beauty and the Beast, then Alladin. I would say that for a stretch of great movies in animation this was a great thing to do by Disney. Bravo Mickey Mouse!!!
Not the best Disney! Far away! But anway, good. Ursula is a great vilain. And this 1 is 1 of the 1st Disney I saw on theatre. Maybe even THE 1st. I'd like to see it again. Too much years, even centuries since last time. :(
Yeah, yeah... It's the little mermaid, the same cute barbie-like character little girls love so much... But the movie is great. If you just free yourself from the sissy pink image of the movie you're in for a treat.
A beautifully animated musical adventure under the sea. Good for all ages though supervision is recommended for small children due to a couple frightening scenes with the Sea Witch "Ursula". The music is fun and upbeat and it's very colourful.
Rofl my sister used to be scared of the witch in that movie so when i came along she recked it for me coz she sed it was reallly scary and there was a sycho which in it. so i got freaked out by it.
Es una de mis favoritas desde que la vi cuando tenia como 5 a~os. Me gusta mucho y es muy bonita y Ariel es mi 1era princesa favorita. Me identifico con ella por su carisma y curiosidad.
I remember the first time I saw this movie. I was perhaps 10 years old, and it was amazing! And it still is to this day! Disney movies does that to you!
This has to be the best Disney movie ever made, or at least the top three. I love everything about this movie - the characters, the story, the animation, it's all so amazing! But it's the music which perfects the film. The music in this has got to be the best of Alan Menken's - it gives the movie so much more beauty and wonder to it. This has to be a movie to see
Classic Disney!!! (I don't know where people get the "brilliant" idea that love at first sight -or over the course of a few days- doesn't exist, when that's all we grow up believing in.)
I love it.one of the best animated movies.I can't forget "under the sea".It is one of my favorite songs:
under the sea
under the sea
when the sardine begin the beguine
it's music to me
what do they got? a lot of sand
we got a hot crustacean band
each little clam her
know how to jam here
UNDER THE SEA
each little slug here
cutting a rug here
UNDER THE SEA
each little snail here
know how to wail here
that's why it's hotter
under the water
we are
we're in luck here
down in the muck here
UNDER THE SEA
this movie is awesome. disney used to know how to rock your socks. what happened? now they're all high tech. bring back these kinds of movies. i've seen this one too many times haha
well made but it really irritates me how they changed the story, I know they couldn't keep it the same cuz it's a Disney kid's movie, but it bugs me just the same.
