...a perfectly watchable (yet somewhat forgettable) piece of work.

Clearly, the filmmakers sacrificed internal logic in order to deliver a direct-to-video farce that clocks in at 90 minutes on the button.

The central idea is a sweet one but the story/plot is full of gaps and holes and pointless subplots, basically it's the worst kind of Heist film in that respect. It doesn't help that it was totally mis-sold as a real crime caper instead of the light-hearted comedy that it real is. The front cover of the copy I watched (the UK version) has a picture of all three actors holding guns, something that none of them did in the film. Why do that I wonder, no one is going to thank or trust you for tricking them into seeing something they don't necessarily want to see. The minds of greedy producers eh! The Heist or The Maiden Heist isn't a great Heist film but the idea and more importantly, the four main actors Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken, William H. Macy and Marcia Gay Harden make it highly watchable and very likable. It's this likability that is so strong that you will forgive most it's flaws and enjoy, I did anyway.

It's kind of upsetting knowing that the film was completely and unforgivably mismanaged by the studio that distributed it. If it recieved a more widespread release it could have achieved more success than it did but it didn't. The wonderful chemistry between Walkin, Freeman and Macy is fun to watch and definetely the most remarkable trait of the film. Even though the heist itself was highly unlikely to work I thought it was hilarious to watch the cast pull it off. The character drama is quite interesting and it made their characters very likable which is often difficult to do in crime movies. I found it very good hearted and above all hilarious. In the tradition of comedy caper's The Maiden Heist manages to stay cool, slick, and most remarkably thrilling. It's a little charming film that's fun while it lasts.

An improbable bit of fluff about museum security guards who've fallen in love with the pieces they protect and so decide to steal them. A top flight cast delivers charm ... which is really all this (a subversive comedy send-up jiving closeted gays) has going for it.

Very enjoyable movie with a bunch of great actors. How can you go wrong? William H. Macy adds so much to this movie that I chuckled all the way through.

Charming story. Not one of the best films from any of them, but greatly enjoyable, funny, though perhaps a little over-sentimental.

It's about three security guards that work at an art museum and who are each obsessed with three different pieces of art. When they get word that the Museum is moving their favorite pieces these three come together and make a plan to steal the art pieces on the day of the move. Their plan goes a little off beat.
It wasn't as funny as it had been made out to be. It was a little slow and not something I could probably sit through again without nodding off. But it did have it's funny moments, most of them coming from William H. Macy. He was definitely the one who kept this movie interesting. He plays a very odd character who has a very different obsession with his piece of art. An OK watch. Nothing special about it. But it had three big stars (in my opinion) in this movie, so watch it just for their performances. Love to see them all in another film that isn't so slow and bland.

Hilarious! Nice to see three great actors - Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken and William Macy - coming together as aging museum security guards who fall in love with their respective favorite exhibits and plot to steal them when they discover that the new curator had sold the pieces to another museum in Denmark. Great chemistry. Enjoyed it.

This is a feel-good, sweet-natured comedy that at first glance seems to be far below the abilities of the prolific cast. However, Morgran Freeman, Christopher Walken and William H. Macy bring to their roles as museum security guards something nobody else could've brought. These days, it's difficult to stumble across a comedy that isn't overly sardonic, crass and gross-out, plain unfunny or any combination of the above. So, The Maiden Heist is something of a work of art, having more in common with a quirky arthouse comedy than your average Hollywood output.

An enjoyable and funny film, perfect for a Saturday morning. Freeman, Walken and Macy was just so much fun to watch.

Christopher Walken was hilarious as Roger, and played wonderfully off of Marcia Gay Harden, Rose his wife. Morgan Freeman and William H. Macy were great.

I enjoyed this. There were several great scenes like where the three of them meet in a park trying to look inconspicuous. Overall, it was a good, fun movie that got little attention.
