Figaro is about to be married to Susanna, the Countess' maid. The Count, hoping to win Susanna's favors is aroused by Cherubino, whose flirtations with all the ladies in the castle, he fears, include the Countess. In order to sure the Count of his jealousy, and at the same time secure his consent to the wedding, Figaro with the aid of the Countess and Susanna, conceive a plot. The plot to sure the Count of his jealousy and philandering proceeds as planned, without, however, the knowledge of Figaro. The Countess appears as Susanna, and the count, surprised and ashamed, begs his wife's pardon.
