When cynical cartoonist Taylor Darcy (Jonathan Silverman) is diagnosed with the disease, he eschews sympathy from his overly-concerned friends and coworkers and deals with his illness with characteristic wit and sarcasm. As Darcy undergoes hospital treatment, he observes the vagaries of the modern health care system with tough-minded humor and meets his match in Lynn Piegi (Natasha Gregson Wagner), a free-spirited leukemia patient who is even sicker than he is and just might prove to be his soulmate.
