"Wow" That's what I said when I finished watching this movie. I was very hesitant about seeing this movie because I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. After watching I indeed liked it.

The Mist is about a small town who just went through a big storm in the beginning. Most of everything got destroyed by the storm. The residents discover a weird out of the ordinary mist that appears out of nowhere. They realize that there is something in the mist that who ever goes in it, they get killed. Trapped in a grocery store, a band of survivors try to withstand the deadly mist.

"The only thing to fear is fear itself"-JFK

This quote relates to the movie because the moral of the story is that we as humans are the monster.

This movie was really really entertaining and it left me feeling depressed. ME feeling depressed is a good thing because the movie kept me thinking about human survival and what we do as humans.

The only negative thing I would say is the CGI. The CGI could have been better and real but I guess it was passable because all you focus on is the characters and whats going on in the picture.

Remember this is not your ordinary Hollywood horror movie. I thought it was very intelligent and thrilling.

I heard the ending of the movie is different from the book by Stephen King and I think I'm going to check it out. Trust me, the ending is very surprising and it will stick with you forever. I'm sure the books ending will be as good as the movie.

I loved this movie. I unfortunately haven't read the book but I will now. Great movie, but like everyone else I didn't like the ending. It was definately a Stephen King film.

Monster movie mania! Despite the movie nearly being completely spoiled by the idiots at the theater I went to in LA (the movie started apparently at 1:25pm, but when I walked in the theater there was the ending playing to an empty house, then when I was told it should be playing again, I walked in to even more of the ending later... damn!) and the antiquated "religious mania" (though I'm sure it's a statement on post 911 America, and the novella was written before that plot device got trite, but still) tone of the movie, this is one of the more enjoyable horror films to come out in a while. And it has monsters in it! Big, ugly monsters! Jane and his fellow cast members do great work and the direction is top notch, and the screenplay never panders to the audience, though viewers may get frustrated in some scenes where everything takes people longer to do than it should in moments of crisis. Still, if you are a monster movie buff, this film is purty damn good. Just don't see it in the Pacific Theaters in LA, friggin' idiots.

a few differences from the book to the movie, but the ending was nicely done, great support characters, shows human nature in all its forms.

WOW! was NOT expecting this! tense, eerie and FASCINATING!

What i really liked about the movie was the ending, takes a bit of a bitter twist and went in a direction i didn't see it going in.

Thomas Jane was great in this as well. Also, regarding some of the other characters, it gave me great pleasure seeing some of those morons DIE.....people who have seen this will get what i mean, lol.

Great movie, one of my favourites of the year, , see it!!!!

The whole "there are monsters outside, but the real monsters might be inside" idea works well in this movie and it's all great till the ending. First off the acting is good and kudos to Owen and Jones for good performances. One bad moment though by a character who apparantly wasen't told where to look for the CGI effects. Speaking of CGI, it's good here. Really good for each monster's close up. If you hate spiders then you won't like this movie a whole lot. The story is good especially the drama between the survivors and is well played out and written. The film is well shot and done in a cool way that is sometimes jumpy, but not overly annoying so. There are some good jumping moments and a little something for you gore fans too. Now to the one thing that completely destroyed the movie for me. The ending. Though I can't go into details because, yes it's a fantastic twist and you just don't see it coming. Still it leaves you feeling like "What was the point?". You watched this movie hoping for the good guys to escape, but then your left with an ending that is shocking, but disappointing. Yes it's rare you get the chance to shock the audience, but at what cost? I walked in loving this movie, but walked out disappointed.

what do people do when faced with a unral event, they turn on them selves. split into sinners and saints.

humanity is still a animal of fear and we seek to destroy our selves when we find something is more powerful then us

This was one of the dumbest and gorriest movies I have ever seen. If it had not been for the spiders on steroids, this would have been a complete waste of one's time.

Here's the thing... If you are familiar with, and like Stephen King then even if you haven;t heard the story this film is based on, then you should know what to expect.

I am familiar and I like him and I had read the story, and in general, I was very pleased.

The acting from Marcia Gay Harden was great, and Thomas Jane is SEXY, and the action and story was pretty good.

That being said, the film IS too long and too slow, and some of you may not like the ending, nut you SHOULD expect it.

Maybe wait for DVD tho unless a big fan

Awesome. Very cool and thrilling film, with a good and surprising ending. Only real complaint here, is the crazy religious bitch, who made you start hating her, and kind of drawing you away from the suspense. But otherwise. I Recommend this.

I guess I don't get it. Either my opinion of film is incredibly off, or everyone else in the world is a moron. Well, maybe not everyone, just Ryan and the rest of society. This movie was shit. Do you know how I know? Because I've seen shit before. Example - William Sadler starred in Solo, a movie where Mario Van Peebles is a robot soldier. I would rather watch Solo than this. It was a decent premise, which became laughable, no thanks to horrible CGI and a "shocking end". Shocking my balls. The Sixth Sense shocked me, this movie angered me. I've never seen anyone kill themselves when facing the end of the world, then all the sudden it's the norm! Then the fog dissapears, wow, I never saw that coming! There I ruined it for you, but, I think the movie ruined itself.

well, if you can get passed the cheese in the beginning, it's great, until the ending... I do like an unhappy ending now and again, just not this one.

I was pumped for this movie because I loved the book! But like what happens so often-Hollywood has to ruin it. Do not see if you are already a depressed person!

Frank Darabont has done it once again. "The Mist" delivers a great quality film from the start to the end. An amazing film. Darabont has adapted another Stephen King piece and made a great film out of it. This movie is shocking, its ending will send a punch to you and shake you all over. A great twist. You'll leave the theater feeling a terrible remorse. See it to believe it. Marcia Gay Harden's performance will make you hate her forever. She portrayed her role perfectly.

"The Mist" is right next to "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile" in cinematically delivering a great movie. Yes, it needs better special effects, but that doesn't stop this film from being up there. Certainly one of the best films of 2007, in my opinion.

Wow. This mvie is really good and thoughtful. There is a special place in my heart for monster movies that have a worse villain than the actual monster and this is one of them. The thing that remains with me though is the ending. Holy.. crap! This has the second unhappiest ending I have ever seen in cinema. It's second only to Requiem for a Dream, that's how bleak it is. I read a review that said "Did you find 28 Weeks Later a little too chipper for your tastes? Then have I got the movie for you!" Even days later it's upsetting. Man, nothing good ever happens to Tom Jane's family onscreen.

at least it's a horror film that IS that: horror, and not slice 'em and dice 'em. and it don't take long to get to the point either. in a small community people are dying horribly (and that's how it should be!) and nobody knows why. "...and what's up w/all that creepy foggy stuff? we never had that here before..." you'll stay tuned, and not so much to find out about the mist, but rather to see how the fun personal relationships, well drawn in this creeper, play out till the gruesome end, which is where all the real horror in this creeper comes from anyway---the people showcased. should i give away the ending...? no, i won't do that, but i will say that my only real unhappy note is in the stereotypical choice of "bad guys": the guy who barely got out of high school (read:redneck), the lady who actually believes the bible (ooohhh! that's really bad!), and...the smart black city guy (and what's wrong w/them i'd like to know?).

Another solid King adaptation from Frank Darabont. Though this one isn't on par with Green Mile or Shawshank, it is an enjoyable study on paranoia and what it does to people.

The movie is really boring. And I hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE the religios moron! She is really annoying and I was so happy when she FINALLY died! Too bad it wasn't sooner, because of her I really hated the movie.

And what the hell is wrong with the rest of the people, turning religious all of a sudden and "sacrifies" a man?! MORONS!

The ending though. I really liked the ending. That was totally unexpected! I can't give this a bad rating with an ending like that, even though I hated the rest of the movie.

Horror movie makers, watch this movie and learn: Endings like these are the way horror movies are suppose to end!

This movie was so fun to watch! The best part is the ending. You can truly tell it is a Stephen King movie by the way it ended. As you watch the credits roll, you just sit there wondering why it had to end like it did.
When "The Mist" moves into the small town after an electrical storm, a group of people take refuge in a supermarket after one of them runs in bleeding, screaming something is out there.
It is crazy how a group of people can change so drastically after just a few days of being terrified.
At the beginning, everyone thought the bible preaching woman played by Marcia Gay Harden was annoying but by the end of the movie she had followers.
Speaking of which, being trapped in a supermarket with some crazy lady preaching the word of god is terrifying enough.
Even though there were some parts that were a bit cheesy and some of the creatures didn't look real, it was still an overall fun movie to watch.
I jumped a few times and yes I did have the urge to yell at the screen for them to run.
I would recommend seeing this movie!

Despite some minor flaws, The Mist is actually well designed, decently directed, decently acted, enjoyable movie.........

Until it's decided that it's OK to explain the mist in the stupidest way possible and snap any fear/terror for laughter at the ridiculousness of it.

Cheap hackneyed horror props. Interesting discourse on fear and paranoia and the danger of group think. How'd they manage to rope actors like Marcia Gay Hayden into this project, I'm dying to know. I clearly have mixed feelings about this movie but it was entertaining enough.
