Charles Dickens' novel +The Old Curiosity Shop was adapted as a British miniseries for a third time in 1994 (two earlier multichapter adaptations aired in 1962 and 1979). Tom Courtenay and Peter Ustinov headed an all star cast as, respectively, malevolent dwarf Daniel Quilp and the elderly shopkeeper whom Quilp systematically victimizes. The heroine of the piece is the shopkeeper's resourceful granddaughter Little Nell (Sally Walsh), who not only saves her grandpa from Quilp's clutches, but also reunites the old man with his long-estranged brother.
