The onion movie is based off the website http://www.theonion.com/.

The movie is really funny. I was laughing through out the whole thing.
And to find out that Steven Seagal actually played himself in the Cockpuncher bit makes the movie ever so much better.

If you are familiar with The Onion news you will love this movie.
This will be one that I own.

This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It is an abomination, not of only cinema, but perhaps of humor itself. The Onion is a fine humor publication and should be ashamed to have its name associated with this awful, awful picture.

The Onion Movie is much better suited t o a television series its just a collection of sketches connected through a newsreader. The sketches themselves are usually less funny than you expect but i do like the topics they choose to use not much is left untouched.

The team behind The Onion, a popular satirical newspaper, are the writers of this movie parody. Essentially a scattershot collection of sketches, the "story" concerns a news anchor asked to compromise his journalistic integrity in order to please a corporate sponsor. There are a few genuine laughs, but the gags are mostly hit or miss.

Tries very hard to be Kentucky Fried Movie, with mixed results. Very funny at times, but mostly mediocre.
    Stick to faux journalism guys.

The Onion Movie will surprise you, disappoint you, or give you just what you expect. I guess I fall into the surprise group. If you notice my rating, it isn't 1/2 a star, which is where I started before watching this decent comedic picture.

So, what makes this film more successful than, let's say, Date Movie. The plot, or lack of plot that is. You see this film has no plot other then to mock a funny newspaper. There is no flow here. Instead, this film is basically 80 minutes of random skits, with Len Cariou, who plays the leading news anchor perfectly, filling in the time between these skits by pretending he is giving out news headlines. This is one way to go to create a good comedy.

A good portion of the comedy in here is racial and sexual, but it does manage to get some laughs. Way more so, than Scary Movie 2. There are a bunch of those ridiculous comedic scenes as well. Some are funny and some are, well, stupid. The ending is partially clever too. It utilizes the concepts and characters from a bunch of the earlier skits.

Despite this movie swooping in under the radar, there are a bunch of recognizable faces in here. The most notable is Steven Seagal as the "Cockpuncher." You may also notice Daniel Dae Kim, Nick Chinlund, and even Michael Bolton. I can't forget to mention the sexy Sarah McElligott as Melissa Cherry.

This is not a comedic classic like Spaceballs, but it isn't a pile of crap like Date Movie. It is in the middle. For a measly 80 minutes of your life you can get a few laughs out of the cockpun ... I mean The Onion Movie.

    Bad movie.

Full of short skits. It would be good if I was drunk or with a bunch of friends.

It is ok. Rent it if you want to see it though.

The Hot - Hilarious. Witty, offbeat, makes fun of a lot of stuff. Man, just hilarious. It was so hot. Sexy, funny, so hot right now.

The Not - It took me a long time to understand that there was actually a story. A lot of it may have been really stupid and just random, dumb funny.

Mindless series of sketches loosely stuck together. Not provocative and really a waste of time. It is in no way a fair representation of the brilliance of the short internet sketches such as The Iron Man Trailer and Nick Nolte free cars. Some sketches have some nice ideas such as the mystery rape party but overall this is a huge miss. Satirical but very obvious. Luckily it was short.

Ok first of all anyone who likes this movie obviously doesn't know who the onion news organization really is. I bought this movie expecting the same quality intelligent humour found on their internet news postings, but got a sub par movie filled with the immature humour in all those scary movie films. It did have it's moments, but overall this movie was a giant sketch comedy film that fails miserably. I truly hope if the onion does attempt to make another movie they appeal to their true viewers and not a bunch of stoned out high school kids.

Wow! Amazing movie. Not in a good way mind you. I was actually amazed at how horrible it was. A completely total waste of 80 minutes. Please friends, save yourself from this useless garbage.

"Potty humor thinly disguised as satire" - yep, pretty much sums up this movie. I can't deny that lulz were had. If you are easily offended, you will want to skip this one.

Steven Seagal garners all the stars in this film. Some sketches are chuckle-worthy, but the rest is a hodgepodge. Like all those, from the 2 of the 12 writers of, films, but surprisingly funnier. Still not that funny.

They should've retooled it completely, there's a funny farce amidst this shit.

Well, I didn't really know what to expect from this. I like reading The Onion, and if you compare the movie to the writing, you'll be disappointed. The movie is not nearly that good. And for the most part, it is rather plotless, relying on SNL-like skits. None the less, the movie does have its moments and I laughed loudly more than once.

More than a few solid laughs, reminiscent of The Kentucky Fried Movie, which is superior in many ways, and inferior in the overly long redubbing of Enter The Dragon. Anyways, this is a review for The Onion Movie. I laughed really hard during the Al Queda training video and Michael Bolton's Children's Charity scene, some of the jokes go on for too long, others it seems like not long enough. That being said, it's a good watch. I kind of wish I was drunk when I watched it, but the humor was ripe enough sober.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with "The Onion": They're a satire news network who release free videos (search for them on youtube or myspace video). And now, they've made a full length movie.

If you like the Onion news sketches, you will definitely like this movie. It is full of what the Onion news does best: Bringing you extremely absurd news stories. There is a very thin red line throughout the movie that tries to tie the individual sketches together on a way very much like Monty Python does, but not equally good. In the end it is just a collection of funny scenes: From clueless protesting Alzheimer's patients and pornstars demanding to be fucked harder and the Queen Nathan II gay fuckfest boat to the first comatose freestyle diver, blind stock car drivers and also nerds and geeks getting killed by ogres.

    Yes, you should see this

Very funny, sketch-comedy style that is missing from today's entertainment offerings. Not always terribly witty, but overall a great time.

This movie was hilarious, at least in some instances. However, there were some scenes that made it lose points with me right off the bat, all of those scenes that were so obviously put in there to waste time and hurry the movie along. Then again there was the Armed Gunman looking for a job that one was great, as well as Steven Seagal as Cock Puncher!. The ending is constipated and kinda stupid. It goes off on a tangent with all of these faces we've seen in the movie and brings some of them back to help them in their situation, and it was simply done clumsily. Not too bad of a movie, but not one I would watch multiple times either.

This movie has some hilarious scenes in it, especially the songs and videos from the girl that's singing them. I LMAO at that. It's a pretty good movie in a very silly way.
