After moving back to his northern home town, honest but inept probation officer Simon Garden (Steve Coogan) witnesses a serious crime, and ends up getting framed for murder. The only way to prove his ...( read more  read more... )innocence is to break into a bank vault where the crucial evidence is stored. So easily one of my favourite comedies- clumsy but totally hilarious, with a fun plot following probation officer Simon Garden who witnesses murder and is framed for it. Desperate to clear his name, Garden rounds up the only four criminals he has ever managed to rehabilitate and ...( read more)persuades them to help him to rob a bank and break into the vault which contains the only proof of his innocence. There is so little not to like about this movie, the characters are wonderful, the script is painfully funny and Steve Coogan is a subtle comedic genius heading a great cast. I'm not really sure why it's been kind of forgotten about in recent years, because for me, it just gets better and better with each viewing. Brilliant brilliant film...
