Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"...a frustrating picture with all the ingredients to be a truly outstanding action thriller, yet never quite achieving its ambitions."
‑ John J. Puccio, Movie Metropolis
"HEY, HOLLYWOOD! THE COLD WAR IS OVER! Think they heard that? I doubt it."
‑ John R. McEwen, Film Quips Online
"First-time filmmaker Mimi Leder builds a couple of suspenseful scenes in the last half-hour, but most of the story is stale and predictable."
‑ David Sterritt, Christian Science Monitor
"The Peacemaker is a critical reminder that nothing's quite as dynamic as fully bloomed, gung ho, widescreen descent into possible worldwide destruction."
‑ Brian Orndorf,
"The plot works on a mechanical level, but "The Peacemaker" reveals the Bond movies are smart to oil the cogs with humor and sex appeal."
‑ Jeffrey Westhoff, Northwest Herald (Crystal Lake, IL)
"A sturdy, entertaining popcorn movie."
‑ Michael Dequina,
"Another formulaic action movie devoid of any suspense, feeling or realistic sense of danger."
‑ Chuck O'Leary,
"Explores the theme of nuclear terrorism with zest and momentum."
‑ Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat, Spirituality and Practice
"A solid, muscular thriller that manages to deliver big action set-pieces without insulting the audience's intelligence."
‑ Kevin Lally, Film Journal International
