Amazing! It left me breathless...and wanting more...
(Can't believe that the phantom was Gerard Butler!)
  • October 24, 2009
Tragic unrequited love. How sad. I feel bad for the phantom. Even though half his face is scarred he's still kind a hot.
  • October 22, 2009
The fantastic sets, costumes, art direction and cinematography make for a wonderful visual spectacle, even though the songs are not altogether great and Butler is a terrible singer.
  • October 20, 2009
Gorgeous and touching film. Love the music, love the casting...Shitmaker got lucky here.
  • October 12, 2009
Schumacher da rienda libre a su lado recargado y excesivo en esta peli que yo hubiera preferido mas oscura y gotica. Recomendable solo a los aficionados al musical (7-)

Great acting but not very solid. The film loses it's starting grace with some of the dialogue and pacing. I liked the cinematography though.

An amazing and delightful remake of a legendary classic. The musical socre is great, the dressing and the setting fit perfectly and artistically fine. Good work.

Very impressive! I've always loved the Phantom of the Opera and this movie was just an extension of that. this comes close to the amzment and true magic that the broadway performance had offered. it was a thrilling experience. so much detail was put ...(read more)into this. the s...( read more)ongs and lyics were transfered perfectly. the acting at times was a bit disapointing. however, the beauty and passion that this film brought was enough to keep you entertained throughout all of this. another visually entertaining movie. I highly recomend this.

The Phantom of the Opera looks fantastic and it's hard to keep your eyes off the screen but not because it's a good film. I just loved the set design and the look of the film. It's too bad that Joel Schumacher didn't make a Batman film that looked this good. While Emmy Rossum gi...( read more)ves the best performance of the movie as the singer that the Phantom (Gerald Butler) falls for.

Other than that I felt it was just loud with off tune songs that drag on and on. While Gerald Butler trys hard as the Phantom, he's not very scary. When he's angry he just shouts angry words while not being very menacing. I'm not sure who could have pulled off the part though. I mean, Hugh Jackman can sing, but I don't think he's too good when he plays a villain either. Butler, might have been able to pull off the role if the film was done now. His acting has improved and he has actually improved tremendously in roles where he has to show aggresion. So perhaps he was the right guy for the part, jjust not 5 years ago.

love the songs in this movie especially the lyrics that goes like this: say you'll share with me one life, one lifetime. lead me, save me from my solitude. say you want me with you here beside you. anywhere you go let me go, too. love me. that's all i ask of you.

the first time i watched to be honest i get bored.. and i full asleep maybe because of the music. then i watched in the second time. hhmm! not so bad the actors did a good job. Emmy Rossum as Christine is stunning, her voice is amazing and her talent shines through this movie.

"I am your Angel of Music... Come to me, Angel of Music."

Pretty solid film. It does drag here and there between the middle and the end and becomes kind of boring, but it's still a decent movie. The songs are really amazing, so it helps keep you focused. And considering this is ...( read more)the same guy who did Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, I'd say this movie is pretty ranked up in his filmography.

many people don't like this film. maybe because it is a Joel Schumacher's film. I've watched the opera and it was amazing. I can't say it is a good movie, but for me it is an entertaining one. andrew lloyd webber is an absolute genius. plain and simple. emmy rossum, playing christine, is sumptuous, however, it is her counterpart, gerard butler, who is the real focus of the piece. surprisingly adept at singing, butler makes the hair all over your body stand on end when ...( read more)he goes from beautiful falsettos to incredible full bodied sound. a masterpiece.
