Interesting direction. It was a lot different from what I thought it was going to be. It was okay. I found the characters to be two-dimensional.

Der Krieger und die Kaiserin is a beautiful, sublime drama with great Thriller undertones (dark, ominous tones). It is shot so wonderfully. A German film with German and a little English language. It is not loaded with dialogue and at times there is more than others but all in all, the dialogue is minimalistic to some extent because it takes a back seat to the wonderful cinematography. And the story is told in the eyes and faces of the characters. Nominated for many Euro awards.

Stylish. Prepare to be moved and exhilarated

I don't really know what this was about. Bank heist? Death? Cuckoos nest? Or just a really emotional dude? All I know is that it was really long and in german.

whatever tom tickwer makes is worthy watching.he has a wonderful unique point of view in cinema and photography.
the camera angles are realy cool in his movies and he has his own ways to show emotional feelings of people.for example in this very movie we are discussing of there is a scene that the man wants to leave behind his sad past....... and believe me when i say that scene is one of the best in the whole history of cinema and most certainly is one of my top favorites.

Do you know what you get when you have your climax half way through the movie? A bad movie. A series of random events that never really leads anywhere or builds any sort of attachment to the characters.

Cool movie, algunas cosas un poco akward pero anyway me gusto. Es de amor y como el lucha contra su pasado.

One of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. The essence of Tykwer's. The first movie I have ever wanted to have on dvd, so I could take it with me everywhere.
    Must see.

Once again, a foreign film has given me the old one-two punch right to the chest. I adore this movie.

Nurse Sissi who works in an asylum and has an abnormal relationship with her father cannot get Bodo out of her mind since he saved her life. Unfortunately Bodo is repenting for his past and doesn't want anything to do with women until their paths cross again and their roles are reversed. The main attraction here is Franka Potente who is as charming as she was in Run Lola Run (could she be more photoshopped on the cover?) "-I'm afraid that nothing will be the same as it was before. -No, you're afraid that everything will be the same as it was before."

Such a beautiful and well done movie. Often mindbending and heartbreaking. Incredible score/soundtrack too. I'm definitely kicking myself for not seeing this sooner.

This quickly became one of my [new] favorite movies. I think I would honestly rather watch a "foreign film" than a North American one (anything Hollywood spews out).

It follows a rather unique storyline, and takes you along and interesting and unusual path, in a way one wouldn't at first expect. I love how perfectly each scene melds together with a flow of silence (which, in itself, is difficult to work out just right), dialogue, body language, or what have you; so aptly timed.

This film brings up a lot of important questions regarding moral and spiritual issues. I was pleasantly surprised by how little objectional content (sex, swearing, ad nauseam) it has in it, esp. for a foreign film.

The acting and the cinematography, lighting, makeup, etc. are all good as well. Sorry, this review is not at all what I would like it to be, and deserves a re-write in the near future.

an odd little caper which, like a lot of european movies is very eye catching with its scenery though a little slow in its pace.

Tykwer, director of run lola run, heaven and most recently, perfume, has created one of what I consider to be the most beautifully shot movies. It follows a few strange characters doing strange things. Tykwer, unlike Run Lola Run, slows things down and just stops to take a look at how beautiful normal banal things can truly be.

From Tom ykwer (Run Lola Run), this film offers an intriguing storyline about love and fate. Beautiful visuals, beautiful music and appealing actors makes of this movie another succes from this talented german director !

This may be a german movie, but it's still amazing. Benno Furmann & Franka Potente are totally the best parts of this. It's a really great and strange love story. You just have to get past the sub titles.

We forget that film is a relatively new art form, and so inspired by theater that so little of what can be done with sound and image combined has been explored. It is so rare to find a film in which sight and sound flow seamlessly, combine to augment eachother, to create a whole that is much better than the already considerable sum of its parts.

The Princess and the Warrior is a film about coincidences, fate and love which uses every single resource at its disposal to propel itself. It is not a mish-mash, it is not style above substance, it all flows together naturally, organitcally, a rare case of style and substance merging to create a higher being. Every artsy shot has purpose, every surreal sequence has a point, every song, every shot part of an ultimate goal. Nothing is unnecessary.

It may be slightly long at the end, it may take viewers for a twist or two more than it has to, but it is a real, audio-visual work of art.

With this, Tykwer proved he has a range of storytelling devices. Going full tit on Lola, he slowed right down for Kaiserin, and told a gorgeous story with luverly shots of Wuppertal in between. Plus he cast Benno Fürmann!

great, i mean fucking fantastic photography. every frame of this movie is a work of art. the story is good too, if not a little disjointed and illogical, but it's the camerawork that makes this movie terrific.
