although the movie is about a musical, this film is often wrongly classified as being a musical itself. its more of a strait comedy featuring mel brooks usual style of mixing goofy humor with subtle and dry humor. gene wilder is great as always and the film has just enough char...( read more)m to make it a solid watch.

This is a very funny film, Mostel and Wilder are brilliant together in what is probably Mel Brooks?s best film. I?m not interested in the remake, it baffles me as to why it needed to be made, there seems to be an unnecessary trend in turning classic comedy films into musicals and...( read more) then turning the musical into a film. It?s silly and stupid and I?ll have no part in it!

Some of it's a little dated. But that includes LSD, my favorite character missing from the new version. I love the songs in the Broadway musical version, but by the time they made the new movie the show was tired. You have to go back to the original!

This is seriously one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

Screaming unfunny lines does not magically make them funny.

The Producers is considered by many to be Mel Brooks' best. At the very least it is an admirable director's debut. Since released, it has inspired a successful Broadway play and a recent remake.
