MCT:September 24, 2008ok I can see many didn't care for this however as a writer I can say this was wonderfully done. Ok, why? Well to bring someone into the world at the exact moment another is leaving it happens all the time right... even if we don't know it. Ok, that said the idea that one might have hmm flash backs or dajavu at locations or seeing people hmm is that possible yes even if we don't like to admit that point... I did like the alternate ending better then the chosen however, I still enjoyed it....

MCT:September 6, 2008Movie you have to see from the begging. Joanna has nightmares about a woman. As a child she drew pictures of sea horse and of a town she doesn't remember. Eventually she ends up going to a little town in Texas called LaSalle were she startes putting things together by the end of the movie. Good one

Pretty lame movie. I watched it thinking it was gonna be really interesting but it wasn't good. It wasn't boring but nothing really good was happening. Pallack from Tell Me You Love Me was in it.

This is one of my favorite recent supernatural thrillers. I saw it out of desperation for a film of it's type that I hadn't seen, and was pleasanty surprised. Don't let the presence of Sarah Michelle Gellar fool you. This is not a teen horror flick, a japanese horror film, or Saw type slasher porn. It is a classic gothic type supernatural thriller in modern times. Some shock scares typical of modern films, but all within the realm of the story. The strength of the film is that there is nothing in the film that doesn't serve the story. No useless or flashy scares injected in to keep fifteen-minute attention spans in check. I never felt like the film was trying to convince me of how important or scary it was. The story seemed to unfold naturally, and I honestly felt for the charecters. That always makes the suspense and scares more effective. Gellar's performance is more polished and mature than anything else I've seen her in, even holding her own in her scenes with Sam Shepard. Too many films (not always to their discredit) are just pop entertainment, so I always appreciate a class act when I see one. And this is one.

As I was just told. this movie sucks a*$! It bored me so bad I'm not even going to finish it. Advertised as a horror thriller this really is a crappy mystery. Save your time and don't watch.

MCT:June 18, 2008Not the greatest film but it is worth the watch for sarah michelle gellars performance. I think she does really well with her character and she kept me watching. There were some nice merge shots but the story was pretty simple.

Después de que Sarah Michell Gellar tuviese un mal rato en la ciudad en la que vivía regresa después de muchos años para cerrar un trato pero al regresar ahi se encuentra con la historia de algo pasado y tenebroso que no la dejara irse tan rapido.
Al final todo se resuelve. El filme es bastante aburrido, poco suspenso (sí lo hay) y poca historia lograda. -

One of the absolute few Sarah Michelle Gellar movies that didn't suck. The mystery was pretty decent. The mirror scene got a jump out of me, and Peter O'Brien was pretty sexy. I liked it, but would only recommend it to people who like ghost movies with a happy ending, of sorts.

An interesting story of a girl who is in a car accident when she is younger. From then on she is plagued by visions of a woman being stalked and killed. She eventually goes to the small Texas town to confront the visions and find out what is happening to her.
Slow to start and could be confusing at times but it kept you watching. If you can stick with it till the end you won't be disappointed. -
MCT:March 22, 2008I had a lot of trouble rating this movie I have changed it from 1/2 a star to 1 star up to 1 1/2 stars back to 1 star down to half star the up to 1 star again. And even still I'm thinking off changing it.
Bless little Sarah Michelle Gellar, she tries so hard to be in good horror movies, we had I know what you did last summer, Scream 2, The grudge (and the grudge 2) and now this.....The Return. And one day she may actually achieve her dream and be in a great one.
So what it the return about I hear you all scream with delight.........no sorry that my little slave in the cupboard screaming. But I'll tell you about it anyway, so Gellar plays Joanne Mills, a young and troubled traveling business woman. Troubled because she has visions of a brutal murder that took place 15 years before on a person she does not know in a place she doesn't know.
But then one vision produces a image of a bar, and on a journey home to her fathers house she begins to piece together a little more from her vision which leads her to a small farm and Terry Stahl. Here she finds a conclusive and spooky link to her visions in a place she has absolutely no visitation to or even knows about. Terry is shunned by the locals who believe he was responsible for the fatal stabbing of his wife 15 years prior. But Joanne knows different and puts herself in harms way to uncover the truth for Terry.
The problem with this film and the reason for my low rating is that it has no substance. Gellar is not great considering she can act. Mostly she is emotionless and off in some far away land, the whole part crazy part abused part shy victim gig some how does sit very well nor does her whole gothy style. The weak performance and character is just a bit off putting from someone you expect to pull of a strong female lead. And the whole self harming issue just annoyed me, it was uncalled for and irrelevant to the story.
Peter O'Brien does a good job of playing Terry but with little dialogue or scenes there isn't much to work with. Likewise with other supporting cast.
The plot is a bit jiggly and by the end you do understand it better but its not that good to be bother with all the tiny tit bits of information really. And although I thought the ending was rather good at explaining how Joanne is connected to terry and how her visions came to pass, I could help but feel it was a alternate and done before way of portraying a possession/vision story.
Verdict is don't bother unless you really like Gellar's work. -

Ugh... This movie is hard to watch... Even for Sarah/Buffy fans like myself. I nearlt turned it off in the first twenty minutes, but didn't... It got better but in the way a rash gets better, you put something on it and it then doubles in size and irritation... The three words I can use are... 'What a shame'

An average psychological thriller about a young woman,played by Sarah Michelle Gellar,who starts having visions in which she's another woman and shes being stalked and eventually murdered.She goes to Texas,where the visions seemingly take place,to find out what's happening to her.This is an ok thriller but it's been done so many times before and it feels like a remake of a Japanese horror,although it's not!

OMG!! Is it just me? Or did this movie suck? I watched this movie for a total of 47 mins and I had to shut it off. This movie just did not capture my attenttion at all!!! Awful!! I want to give it a lesser rating but this damn thing wont let me!!!

For an actress like Sarah Michelle Gellar, with her bodyshape and face, she don't have to worry about her career...more and more C-class prouction movie will need her...
but she wil never become a good actress...so....let's face it...
Another poor movie, intend to giv a twist ending but fail to do so....
story concept is very normal, yea, it hapen always...
the main character will discover or realize that the "evil" one is him/herself..

I was really glad i didn't see this flick on the theater cos it would have been a waste of money. It started out pretty boring, and ended a bit boring too. It was all too confusing and predictable. There was very little dialogue, which would have been good if it were a suspenseful movie but there was really nothing suspenseful or scary about it. gellar didn't shine, even the rest of the cast were forgettable. i hope gellar doesn't consider doing films like these (remember the grudge?) cos it doesn't really work.

Another good horror-ish movie... it was a little predictable... but not much. The camera guys really do a great job. Also, I'm not sure what the cover of the DVD has to do with the movie. Really. I have no idea. Then the main picture on the back of the DVD is an arm coming out of something... (a mirror? I couldn't figure it out...) but I don't remember anytime in the movie that happened... O well. Good movie, interesting ideas in it.

Not a fan of Gellar, especially in comatose roles of complete and utter boredom. This movie would have been good.. if it were completely different. This movie is NOT scary. Don't expect to be seeing a horror/thriller/suspense movie. It is a slow drawn out mystery that really is missing the mystery segment.

«The return» est un film qui aurait du sur le plan esthétique être un peu plus stylisé. L'histoire comme telle est réfléchie mais il manque un « quelque chose ». J'ai été déçu par le visionnement. C'est donc pour cette raison que je donne 2 étoiles sur 5.

I went tae eh pics wi ma tbf gemma =D ae see iss film we wurni sure wit it wiz gonni be lyk and we wur gonna sneak intae suttn else bit we didni. It was quite a gd film for all u folk oot ther hoo hink its rubbish yoo have no gd taste =) it was quite a gid film and has a few jumpy bits was wurth seeing it in the end. It was a little hard to understand and is also hard 2 explain you have to watch it. in the end it all came 2 gether and was a gid fulm! it is wurth going and seein yoo dini ken wit its lyk tul yi see it and everybdy hus differnt taste but me nd gemma foat it wiz gid.

worst movie ive seen for quite some time & advertised as a horror - thought its a (badly told) who done it. avoid it if you like horror movies.
