Incredibly funny fish out of water film... the ensemble cast is wonderful. From Jack Weston as the unknowing Gaetano Procolo and Jerry Stiller as his nefarious brother in law Carmine Vespucci, a young F. Murray Abraham (who is adorable in his red towel), an INCREDIBLY young Treat...( read more) Williams with a voice only a teenage girl could love and the two greatest funny ladies anyone can put in supporting roles.. Kaye Ballard as Vivian Procolo and the enormously gifted Rita Moreno in one her BEST roles ever (Hollywood NEVER knew what they had in her) as the not so great bathhouse singer Googie Gomez (Bette Midler would have a had NO competition from her) whose heavy Puerto Rican accent never wavers, even when she sings.. there is no more a perfect cast to be found. The story line is hilarious.. and even though the thought that it takes place in a gay bath house should NOT scare anyone away from seeing this film. It's funny.. plain and simple. My only qualm with it is this.. I have MANY gay male friends... and the gay men that habituate this particular bath house are some of the UGLIEST gay men I've ever seen.. BUT.. take a good look around.. you'll find a young John Ratzenburger in there.

Very much a time capsule of a bygone era, everybody is enjoyably over the top but any time Rita Moreno shows up she blows everyone else off the screen in a performance of such reckless, hilarious abandon its a joy to behold.

With a cast that includes Jerry Still and Kay Ballard, you can't go wrong and very little does in this hilarious movie. To the delight of audiences, the movie quickly escalates into a tug-of-war between the fabulous Rita Moreno and a young, hunky Treat Williams to see who can st...( read more)eal the show. A lean F. Murray Abraham is thrown into the mix and provides some of the most hilarious lines. For a 70's movie, it does depict gays and gay bathhouses in a very tongue in cheek manner that has a very wide appeal and gives everybody a great laugh!

Lots of fun and lots of stars (Treat Williams, F Murray Abraham, Rita Moreno, Kaye Ballard) in a farce of modest proportions... it could almost be Bette Midler's early career meets the Mob, but somewhere along the line, the director loses the thread. Thank goodness the actors ne...( read more)ver do.

This movie is a scream!!! It's not everyday that you see F.Murray Abraham flittering around like a fluttering dove...A Very Young Treat Williams playing a quirky Private Eye...Rita Moreno as a Transexual Singer and Paul B. Price as this hysterical "Chubby Chaser".
If you are in...( read more)to "real" laughs...then this is your movie!!!!
