In a post-apocalyptic world, I imagine there would be little joy or happiness to be found. The world would be bleak and unforgiving on those who survived (assuming any survivors would remain.) The bond between family would be reinforced; but it would also hang on a fragile thread...( read more)

A decent movie that was lack luster. It had the potential, but it lacked something. The movie was indeed about the bond between father and son, yet why did I leave the matinee unsatisfied about the movie. I haven't read the book, but I am sure it was better as it went into more d...( read more)

This is a case of too much of my personal state of mind influencing the way I read and felt about the film so it's likely to get a higher rating on a second viewing. All the acting was excellent. I wasn't as affected by it as I was by the book though, but I'm not entirely sure wh...( read more)

Really faithful to the novel which means that this movie is pretty damn awesome.

Very sad movie. Viggo Mortensen was perfect as the father. If what happens in this movie happens when the wold starts ending I hope its a very long time from now.

What a dismally brilliant film, that which DOES do the book justice. Cormac McCarthy is a genius..and enough of one to NOT make his novels seem like sheer drivel in the eyes of hollywood. SHIT, I'm yammering enough...let me actually review this SUMbitch...and looky here already r...( read more)

I was afraid this would not be a faithful representation of the novel but it is. I wasn't sure a film could manage the setting but it is stunning. I wasn't sure the actors could get the relationship right but it deepens it. Add this to the list of Cormac McCarthy novel film adapt...( read more)

Highly disturbing, leaves little hope, leaves little answered, contains a few overly long scenes.

Sombre et proche du désespoir, La Route égrène son road trip entre un père et son fils avec un rythme quasi contemplatif. Le film manque de souffle mais l'interprétation de Viggo Mortensen est époustouffante.

This movie was depressing. I wanted to hope that the father and son would find a place to make a better life, but they were in a hopeless situation. It was an interesting premise.

Fascinating, sad story. Well crafted, there weren't any moments that didn't feel very real. Viggo Mortensen was perfect in the role.

Your reaction to this film will depend on your ability to face the dark night of the soul. Yes, the film can be interpreted as being bleak, but it also shows the human capacity for survival and hope against the odds. A good script, good direction and superb performances add up ...( read more)

To say this film is beautiful is difficult. Visually it is stunning, but its story is ugly. No doubt words like bleak and stark will be attached, and they are all true.
I could have done without the Charlize Theron parts, but they really didn't bother me too much. The final 30 m...( read more) -

Read the book, and the book was on of the best written novels I have ever read.

HATED it. Seriously, how can you throw Charlize Theron, Viggo Mortensen - AND his nudity (twice!), cannibalism and a few genuinely terrifying moments together and still have a nauseating movie? What's with all the doom and apocalyptic gloom in the pop culture lately, anyway? The ...( read more)

This is such a pedestrian thing to say, but God, the book was so much better.

Wow this was shit. I guess Viggo put in a good performance but there was simply no story. Don't tell me that "survival" was the story. The book MUST have been better. It was simply boring and unattached.
