This music was amazing and the acting was really good. But this movie was way to weird for me, and not even the sexual stuff either, it was just plain old weird. The whole ending kindof screwed it up for me. And I was really upset about Eddie dying because he was a really cool ch...( read more)aracter, they killed him and he was only on for like a minute. So it really sucked because I really liked him. But yeah, way to weird and the ending didn't make any sense and there really wasn't a point at all.

I"m sure most think that this is a great movie, but I think its the type that you either have to love it or just plain old not like it.

Incredibly preposterous and retard insanity! Bob Fosse was the first filmmaker to push the boundaries of the musical genre, and Sharman gives free rein to campy, anarchic fun and the sexual liberation! The film fucks politics right in the ass, discreetly criticizing Nixon's monst...( read more)rous dishonesty, but c'mon... The 70s was the wildest decade and it had a certain degree of craziness that we will never be able to top (add a recently released Deep Throat [1972] as a cultural background in there). So Rob Marshall is what we are left with regarding musicals? Bullsh!t! I'll stick with this unrepeatable cult classic, featuring Susan Sarandon in her hottest form and a sweet transvestite from transsexual Transylvania! LOOOOL!

I'm doing the Time Warp right now all over my fuckin' keyboard...

Moving on from the riotous cult stage show which was born in a small studio theatre in the early 70s, this movie version is a well-cast, outrageous romp showcasing the absurdity and sci-fi obsession of Richard O'Brien's inventive musical.

The small cast - the wonderful Tim Cur...( read more)ry as Frank 'n Furter (the sweet transvestite from transsexual Transylvania'); Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon as the odd science students Brad and Janet; Patricia Quinn as Magenta ('a domestic'); Little Nell as Columbia ('a groupie'), Jonathan Adams as Dr Scott; Meat Loaf as Eddie; Richard O'Brien himself as the handyman Riff Raff; Peter Hinwood as the muscle man Rocky, created by Frank in a spoof on Frankenstein; and Charles Gray having a great time as the Criminologist - are all really good, and the songs are terrific, from the madness of 'The Timewarp' and 'Sweet Transvestite', to the ethereal 'There's a Light' and 'I'm Going Home', by way of the rocky 'Whatever Happened To Saturday Night?' and the film-reference heavy 'Science Fiction Double Feature'.

Great, great fun and the floor show sequence in particular, showcasing Frank's obsession with Fay Wray and the RKO cheapies, is exceptional, with its statues in basques and its huge swimming pool. Trash, yes, but classy trash, and most enjoyable.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is one of the strangest things I've ever seen. Some of the songs are pretty good, but I really don't get this movie.

I could never get through this thing. Since it's so beloved by so many peeps, maybe I'll give it another shot someday.

THE ONLY REASON THIS GETS EVEN HALF A STAR IS BECAUSE I DO LIKE SOME OF THE MUSIC OTHER THAN THAT, I HATE THIS MOVIE, HATE THE CULTS THAT WORSHIP IT, HATE THE STORY, AND I HATE BIZARRE SEXUALITY IN IT. HOW ANYONE COULD SERIOUSLY LIKE THIS IS BEYOND ME

"I'm just a Sweet Transvestite from Transexual, Transylvania." <3

  • January 22, 2010
When I was a teenager, I was never allowed to go to this movie at the local theater. Pity. It's a boring movie without the side show.
  • January 10, 2010
One star, but I saw it 13 times. The greatest cult film ever. Incredible cast and music. Sick since of humor, so you have to go with 10 friends and lots of stuff to throw to get a kick out of this one. Never see it on video. It does not work.

Excellent film. Weird seeing the castle/mansion in the film though as I've been there and was spotting the locations scenes were filmed in it.
Really enjoyable to watch even though it's quite random. Although I have to admit I started to get slightly bored towards the end just af...( read more)ter they'd just been turned to stone or whatever it is. Also the actress who plays Janet annoys me at quite a few points through the film as her acting was terrible.
Other than that it's a really good film and makes me want to do the time warp.

A wild, crazy movie that doesn't seem to make sense in some parts. It is definitely for those who care for this type of random, glam musical (if you liked Hedwig and the Angry Inch you'd probably like this too). RHPS is a classic in my eyes, and the eyes of many others. Fantastic.

Whenever i watch this movie, it makes me wanna be as "Sweet Transvestite from Transexual... Transylvania". Ah, just kidding. But the music is SO FLIPPING AWESOME.

I mainly watched it because of Tim Curry. I love this movie, even though it's a cult classic and everyone should at ...( read more)least like it.

I LOVE this cult classic. The music is great and the characters are so rad.

I really wish there was a rating system with negative values, as this movie is like minus 15 stars ....would rather shoot myself than watch it again

It's astounding. Time is fleeting. And so on. Full review later.

You will, definitely, walk away from this movie saying, "So... what just happened?" Utterly fantastical and ridiculous and totally taboo. Tim Curry is the standout, and in my opinion he had far too much fun with this movie. Totally crazy but really well done, and obviously a clas...( read more)sic. It's just a jump to the left...

I love this movie. It?s very funny, sexy with brilliant performances and great rock ?n? roll music. With catchy songs like "Time Warp" "Sword Of Damocles" and others are memorable and fantastic still today. It is probably an ultimate cult classic film wildly entertaining - a sexu...( read more)al horror - a spectacle!

I have to get to a midnight screening sometime. "Don't dream it...be it..."

Edit: I went to a midnighter on Halloween. It was a blast!
  • December 22, 2009
love this movie always have always will
  • December 19, 2009
If you're not on the same wavelength as someone who loves this movie and subsequent live musicals that pop up every Halloween, then you won't get it or like it. The first time I saw it and saw Tim Curry in fishnets and garters I was like "Holy Crap What the Hell am I Watching?!!"...( read more) But it grew on me and now I go see it live every year with my friends though watching the people in the audience is more the fun part for me than watching the actual movie. Susan Sarandon look hot as hellfire in this movie. And where the hell did Barry Bostwick go? Is he under a rock.

    omg. a fabulous raunchy comedy.
  • December 9, 2009
It's funny and brilliant, and has many awesome characters - but I just don't like musicals. The plot is so hilarious and quirky, totally out there... Don't take this movie too seriously.

This movie was superweird. I didn't follow the plot and the music was rather awkward.
  • November 27, 2009
WTF?! Really! WTF?! I expected it to be weird... but not this... pointless. You know weirdness for weidrness' sake. I get how it became a cult classic- I think the underground trannies had something to do with it; and as a live performance or revival show with props it would be f...( read more)un, but otherwise... just weird! It was nice to see Susan Sarandon (So young!) and Barry Bostwick sing and dance, but otherwise- 'Time Warp' is the highlight! HOWEVER, the second time around makes WAY more sense- at least what can be made sense, and its a lot more fun with the special feature on where you hear what the audience screams and see what props are used! ASSHOLE! SLUT!! WOMEN'S CONDOMS!!!
  • November 26, 2009
This IS the CULT movie of all time!
  • November 24, 2009
Bizarre, but one of the most entertaining movies I've seen in a while! A movie that can't be rated as any other movie, because it isn't anything like "any other movie"! Just,, enjoy the ride and let the film transport you to "Transylvania".
  • November 23, 2009
not seen it in ages...good muscial lol
  • November 19, 2009
The father of gay films! Pretty good.

    dont dream it, be it
  • November 17, 2009
Wild and wacky, Tim Curry in an epic performance in a movie/play that focuses on pushing the boundaries of sexuality. Good soundtrack but the picture is perhaps a little too bombastic for my tastes.
