Anna Magnani gives one of the most truthful and poignant performances ever seen on screen. She definitely is the driving force of the film.

Anna Magnani's powerful and amazing Oscar winning performance makes this film. It's not a particularly cheery film, but the story is always interesting and the production is fine. Good support from Marisa Pavan. Realistic and believably told. Good acting by Burt Lancaster as well.

One of the best films ever made.

Not Tennessee Williams' best, but this movie seemed tragic and realistic. I liked it and Anna Magnani gave a great performance.

Good drama, almost easy going coming from Williams. Magnani gives it her all.

I love this movie! The level of denial regarding the primary character's (awesome performance by Anna Magnani) deceased husband's infidelity is true to life and reminiscent of someone I know. Burt Lancaster's character is a bit dingy, but believable. All around a very good movie.

Anna Magnani, Best Actress, 1955, as "Serafina Della Rose" in "The Rose Tattoo".

I will blame my not loving this film to director Daniel Mann, who also directed the very bad "BUtterfield 8" and that's final. For the rest, for being Tennessee Williams it isn't that deep. Performances are good, Magnani is a force of nature, Marisa Pavan is rather "eh, just good...( read more)" and Lancaster was a little too doofus for me, but I guess he was OK.
