Only had two people in there that I knew (Jonathan Tucker and Shawn Ashmore) but the story was good, the plant was amzing, but still had some bullsh*t qualities. I still reccommend it.
This movie was fricken hilarious! It wasn?t cheesy in that the acting/graphics were bad funny, but the storyline was funny-so I?d totally put this in the B-Movie category. The dark haired girl annoyed me, and I think that?s about the only thing I really disliked about it. Otherwise-the amputation scene was wicked great fun, and I laughed a lot throughout the entire thing. Does that make me weird because this was supposed to be a horror flick? Dude, I don?t care. If you were scared by this movie you aren?t watching the right kind-a horror!
4 outta 5, for lotso laughs
Fav Quote: Ok, ok fine. Let?s fuckin vote. Ya know, raise your hands if you wanna cut off his legs.
Stupid, stupid, stupid! Biggest waste of tiime I can recall in quite a while. The characters are pure fodder, the acting isn't compelling, and the setup left me unfulfilled. The gore effects are neat, but that is all; it can't save this wreck!!!
2 Couples and bestfriends become entangled in a brutal struggle for survival after visiting a remote archaeological dig in the Mexican jungle. They discover something sinister, old and very deadly. Jonathan Tucker, Jena Malone, Shawn Ashmore, Laura Ramsey and Joe Anderson give a so-so performance in this less-then none spine-tingling horror plotless film.
The first part was OK. Luckily there is this little invention called FAST FORWARD that got me through the movie after all the screaming and crying and woe-is-me started. Not scary just a little gross out effects. totally non-believable.
Scaryiest Scary movie i have ever seen! It really keeps you thinking. Especially the ending. The whole plant thing was kinda stupid, but the human survival element was what was thrilling. NOT the gore. When i watched it my friend fell asleep, but that was before the plot really got scary. i was on the edge of my seat the whole time!!!
The Ruins was a reasonable movie, however, there are far more scary movies out there that are realistically a better watch. The CGI was well done however.
This movie could have been a little better...but it did have a good creep effect to it. I would suggest this movie to my friends who enjoyed a decent creepy feeling.
the film has a talented cast. but quite frankly its a stupid story. certainly not one of the worst film i'v seen, but its not too gud this. i do like the performances from the cast.
Creeping carnivorous cruddy kudzu climbing casually calling cliche catatonic clumsy characters craving carnal catastrophes...keep calling and calling and calling? This movie was less fun than the alliteration I just put together.
I don't really feel like spending all too much time on this.
You have barely built characters.
You have one ancient Mayan temple.
You have a Mayan people for which there is no explanation and you have man-eating foliage.
This movie had a few tense moments, a few laughs and a whole lot of predictable tripe.
Color me silly for seeing it through.
It gets one extra star for a couple of decent gore shots and some pretty faces, but that is really it.
This was actually creepy in subtle ways. The emotions that were running through this movie was very realistic. To actually also see respect from one male to another was very cool. Don't see that in many movies. I will never look at Ivy the same way again.
Unexpectedly good movie, different from Hostel or Touristus which dealt with Americans in a foreign country. This was dealing with more of a supernatural, horror feel and the unknown. The ending was very tense but it was a bit graphic.
This film has it's moments and it's very easy to watch but it just feels like there could have been more to it. Before I watched this film I was told what the story was about and I thought that wouldn't make for a good film but I have to say it's alright.
