It's been 19 years since Gordon Gekko used "Wall Street" to let us know that greed is good. Now, Michael Douglas takes the GG persona and morphs it into a Secret Service agent, Pete Garrison. Guess what? It works! This is a solid political thriller that kept me guessing. The detail work in showing the security precautions taken by the SS on behalf of the President and First Lady was likewise intriguing. All the leads were pretty good but, try as I might, I could not accept Eva Longoria as a Secret Service agent. Whereas Jodie Foster just made you suspend belief and really think she was FBI agent Starling in "Silence of the Lambs", you do not get the same feeling with Longoria. Nevertheless, this is a fun film, escapist entertainment with the Beltway as the backdrop.
Yeah it was ok. a good Micheal Douglas movie. thats why i wanna see this movie and Douglas playing the kind of role he always do a somekind of politiscen or police men.
Pretty decent film aided by Kiefer Sutherland being totally awesome. Douglas was ok, but I still can't work out why he's tappin Zeta Jones. Eva Longoria shouldn't have been wearing a suit the whole time...while conceal those great puppies and ass!
this was an awesome action/political thriller. this was also a very entertaining movie with a great supporting cast. michael douglas & kiefer sutherland the 2 main ppl u need to watch in this movie. their acting is fantastic in this movie. they r wat makes this film succeed. everyone else on screen is good too. this movie has alot of action chase sequences throughout which makes this movie so cool to watch. i recommend this movie to all viewers who like action/suspense/thrillers. its one that u dont wont to miss, it's a very good movie 3 1/2 stars.
The setup was far more entertaining than the chase, and Michael Douglas gets to show off his acting muscle. Alas, quickly degenerates into every other movie of this ilk, complete with the agent who's been framed, the non-descript stereotypical bad guys, and disappointing climax. I enjoyed myself thoroughly until about halfway through; then the more I thought about it, the less I began to like it. It's acceptable entertainment, but nothing you haven't already seen (and done better at that).
The film was ok but I found it to be long and drawn out in places where it needn't have been because the outcome was so obvious. I don't think the title is right for the film either.
Well crafted but predictable thriller with some solid performances. Better than a lot of similar features that have come out of Hollywood in recent times.
A well pace movie that goes the distance. I love it when Kiefer Sutherland's character corrects other on how to do their job.....after watching 24 and this im wonder if he really is an agent. He does them credit. The cast is loaded and Michael Douglas shows he not too old to lead a smart action movie.
Not a bad film at all. Nothing to complicated but still entertaining. It reminded me of the old style of thillers. Instead of focusing on how many twists you can fit into 90 minmutes, they used a good cast to play there roles well and let them entertain you.
I thought with the cast it would be at the least good. Nope. Slow and not interesting. Would have been great as a made for TV movie though, maybe on USA.
Very well directed. I only wish that Pete was played someone else and not MD... somebody a little more respectable... Kevin Costner may be? other than that having an affair with the first lady is also a little far fetched... other than that a pretty good thing. a little inspired by The Fugitive.
The one, big, overwhelming problem with this film is that there's no justification for the reason behind the presidential threat. Isn't that what the movie's supposed to be about? One would think so! But the audience is never let in on why the assassin(s) want to kill the Prez. Hmm. Someone forget to put that in the script somewhere?
Michael Douglas is a CIA agent who gets set up by one of his fellow agents. I saw it for the second time today and I maintain that if that is the best the CIA can do, the USA is in big trouble. But it was an exciting movie.
NO! NOT THE SENTINEL! i heard of this movie through the trailer on another DVD and convinced myself to watch it. I ended up with 2 boring hours of my life i'll never get back
- once again someone wants to kill the US president (don't we all...)
- the guys involved are from some other countrys presidents guard (what better way to insure the US bombs your country apart?)
- all those "men in black" run arround and look important ... almost as if the actors could really take this seriously ... really great acting ... should get 1-2 oscars for this
- the dialogues are pathetic, the action sequences should be forbidden by law, the skript was written by someones 3 years old daughter ...
- did you know you can actually trace mobile phones? for those MIB guys don't ...
- man, it seems to be really easy to sneek and meet the first lady ... i think they should get rid of the MIBs and get some ordinary bouncers from the first club they find ... or some of those old ladies you get as neighbour who always know everything which is happening in and arround the house ...
- just go watch your clothes washer - it's way more intereting and way way more realistic too ... and your clothes get clean in the process ...
+ i found the idea of David Rasche as the president hilarious, too bad the film sucked so badly
This is your typical story of some people chasing down some guy who was framed by some other guy who is related close to the guys who are chasing the good guy. The problem with this movie is that the good guy only gets chased for like 20 minutes and then he is trusted again. Boring.
