Plot:
After packing off wife and son for the summer, doughy middle-aged publisher Richard Sherman (Tom Ewell) lets his imagination run wild, fantasizing about erstwhile ladyloves -- and his curvaceous new n...( read more

Good movie. The man character Richardl, is left alone when his wife goes off for the summer. The movie is mainly comprised of Richards immagination weaving various situations. Paranoia being common theme. This movie also stars Marilyn Monroe, and here she does her infamous standing over the sewer grate.
best oldie i've seen for about a year (last one was the apartment with jack lemmon). anyway, this is marilyn monroe and tom ewell... whoever the fuck he is. he's a good actor, slightly akin to lemmon if you use your imagination like richard sherman does! marilyn's great in it in her usual ditzy blonde role. her most iconic part i've seen. it's when she's stood over the underground train vent on the pavement (sidewalk to american cunts) and her dress keeps blowing up whenever a train goes by. that does it... cunting unbelievable! some great lines from a very witty script thanks to billy wilder and george axelrod (who wrote breakfast at tiffanys) such as when richard goes into the office the morning after his wife has left for the summer and he's asked by his secretary about whether he wants her to get him some breakfast or not and he says "Miss Morris, I'm perfectly capable of fixing my own breakfast. As a matter of fact, I had a peanut butter sandwich and two whiskey sours." i think this flick is the nearest the u.s. have ever got to english humour. also directed by billy wilder as well as co-written who also directed witness for the prosecution which was another great
If this is a romantic comedy, then this is not funny. The movie is only a success because of Marilyn's presence and her "delicious" scene
well yah....errrr...to say ....bog of, would that be rude of me ???? (BOG OFF) *ahh as if i care if it is or not* ;)
I love Marilyn but have not seen very many of her films. This was a really cute and funny one and I can see why people fell in love with her so easy!
Besides being iconic, this movie's really funny! Tom Ewell's performance was hilarious, and definetely, one of Marilyn's greatest!
The first half is very interesting, it really tries to explan the seven year itch. However, the second half turns into a comedy movie which I do not find to be entertaining. The only thing that I find really entertaiining is watching Marilyn Monroe. She is a natural beauty,
anotha clasic from wilder!!! marilyn and ewell are excellent together!!! being a male i really dig this wilder knows the male senes and impulses and he has played with them!!! 2 b honest i dont think a woman cood of directed this as well!!!
Great characters. Very funny! About a married man who is obsessed with the woman who lives in the apartment above. Famous dress scene.
Very funny and well acted film. I loved all the voice over thouhgts of Tom Ewell's character, definatly one I'd recommend.
Marilyn's best role and best film has the gorgeous one playing a young woman living in the upstairs apartment of a married man. The man is prone to daydreaming about being a real ladies man but when he finally meets Marilyn, comedic results happen quickly and often. A hilarious film that shot Monroe to stardom. You can't go wrong with this one.

The Girl: When it gets hot like this, you know what I do. I keep my undies in the icebox!

The Girl: I think it's just elegant to have an imagination. I just have no imagination at all. I have lots of other things, but I have no imagination.
One of the definitive Monroe movies. Funny, charming and a little bit sad. Wilder has made better films, but it's worth watching if only for the stars.
a very funny film, but it gets to be a little too much towards the end. there's only so much hyperactive imagination and air-headed blondeness a person can take. still, very well played roles by Ewell and Monroe and some very witty dialogue. "What blonde in the kitchen?" "Wouldn't you like to know. Maybe it's Marilyn Monroe!"
I absolutely love the beginning of this film and then its Tommy Ewell all on his own and Wilder loses me. This is not to say the man doesn't have a certain desperate charm but he's no Jack Lemmon. Oh well, at least Monroe shows off why she has retained her iconic status for decades afterwards.
A dated comedy that's charming and irritating at the same time. After watching this movie I understood why Marylin Monroe was so popular. She's absolutely vibrant.
This movie was a classic with marilyn monroe featuring her famous pose the way the world mostly knows of her today as.
entertaining, but really outdated, to the point that the whole scenario seems pretty ridiculous to me now. there are a few laugh-out-loud sequences though. marilyn monroe is absolutely delightful and steals every single scene; tom ewell, unfortunately, just seems creepy.
It doesn't sound like the kind of movie that I actually find funny, because it's got, you know, an odd plot. But it was actually pretty amusing. I'm glad that nothing happens, but it was funny to watch him and his imagination went "WHOO."
The beginning was slow to start off and somewhat dull. It gets better with the arrival of Marilyn Monroe. Yes, she plays her typical ditzy blonde, but she is quite lovable here. It is quite fun to watch but Tom Ewells character was rather creepy ... Otherwise, this is a decent film.
Iconic, if just for Marilyn Monroe standing over an air vent, it's not as good as Some Like It Hot. Was Marilyn playing herself, or was it just a funny comment from Tom Ewell's character 'Wouldn't you like to know! Maybe it's Marilyn Monroe!' bringing the audience back to reality?
This is vintage Marilyn Monroe, folks! If you ever want to see some of her best work, this is it. This movie is so funny and cutesy, I love it!
love this film... especially the classic moment when Marilyn's skirt it blown up... what a classic iconic moment in movie history! :)
I love Tom Ewell's comic performance about a paranoid husband!
Started out ok. About a man whos wife goes on vacation for the summer while he stays home to work and is tempted to fool around with this ditsy blond... A good commentary on how tempting it is for a man to cheat.
