Another legend of the silkies story. Scott Glenn plays a widower still grieving who takes in Saffron Burrows a mystical silkie who for a time becomes human & of course they fall in love midst his quest to protect and save her. This is a huge departure from his typical roles (such as Backdraft and Hunt for Red October) and he does a fine job. It's a more involved story line than a similiar movie called Secret of Roan Inish which I did like just a little better than this one. Both are lovely celtic tales of the silkies. This being more dramatic and Roan Inish more of a fairy tale.
