This is a terrible mess of a film it really is, I dunno why Van Damme bothers anymore because these straight to DVD films are really bad. There are some awful cliched baddies, usual cheesey gun action, predictable plot and hammy acting. Sure Van Damme can still do the moves but i...( read more)ts old stuff now im afraid, just another excuse for a typical martial arts battle with another trained up young wannabe in the martial arts world.

A typical Van Damme fight movie. Jean-Claude joins the US-Mexico Border Patrol to avenge the overdose death of his daughter (who is played by his actual daughter in the movie). We get to watch while Jean-Claude shoots his way through a cartel run by former American Special Forces.

Typical Jean-Claude Van Damme movie. Thank goodness the rabbit didn't get hurt!

What a great film this had some fantastic acting, story and some Fantastic Fights.

The acting in this was perfect I was very happy with the acting the acting was strong with very few if any weak acting.

The story was great it had a great story about the FBI and it had a grea...( read more)t story about war the police chases and the bus chase were just wonderful and I really was really impressed with it.

All the fighting scenes and the chases were just wonderful it had alot of action and alot of violence I just couldn't believe how much action was in it lots of blood some wonderful twists wonderful picture and some wonderful effects.

The directing was also good and I think everyone worked hard with this f ilm especially the actors.

Overall this film was good and anyone that likes violence, action, chases, stories, good twists will love this film the story about the war and the FBI was very impressing the story was so good so I'm deffinitly reccomending this movie.

Isaac Florentine, JCVD and Scott Adkins. I should be eating this up, but sadly that is not the case.

I found this flick rather boring and while the fight sequences were by no means bad, they weren't really of the quality that the Florentine, Adkins, J.J. Perry team up have prov...( read more)en they're capable of.

Still, I've seen worse movies and if you're a full fledged Scott Adkins fanboy like I am then you should probably check it out. You just may want to hover your finger over the fast forward button while doing so.

Two in a row! Yet another solid DTV effort for JCVD. While his previous movie, 'Until Death', continued in the spirit of downbeat dramas like 'Wake of Death' and 'In Hell,' 'The Shepherd' is a combination of those films, but also hearkens back to his mid-90s output like 'Sudden D...( read more)eath.' Jean Claude plays Jack Robideaux, another unfortunately named hero who, along with his pet rabbit, is bent on taking down rogue government agents who are in the drug trade. JCVD's co-star, Natalie Robb, is a little hottie, and provides some welcome cleavage shots towards the end. Another actor in here worthy of mention is Scott Adkins as the baddie, who, although not giving as impressive a performance as in 'Undisputed 2', still shines in the few scenes he's given. This movie only serves as further proof that it's only a matter of time before Adkins is a fully-fledged action leading man in his own right. Speaking of Undisputed 2, Isaac Florentine also helms here, and gives the Shepherd the same stylized feel. I watched this along with Bridge of Dragons last night, and it's amazing how far he's come. All in all, I'd definitely recommend this as a late-night pizza flick.

Van Danme...if you like his action film
  • November 14, 2008
Worth the entertainment value of a rental, especially if you like action movies. This one features the usual car chases, fights with the great Van Damme kick style, shooting battles with the 40 shell load shotgun, and even terrorist style bombs. All of this is entertaining and co...( read more)mpetently handled but there is nothing that really blows you away if you've seen your share before.
The plot is made interesting by the inclusion of a rabbit, which is clever but hardly profound. Many of the characters are heavily stereotyped -- the angry veterans, the terrified illegal aliens, the crooked cops, the indifferent feds, the bitchy tough lady station head, the crooked politician, the fat federale who looks like he was typecast as the Mexican in a Hollywood movie from the 1940s. All passably acted but again nothing special.
