Thrillingly genius. Based on Stephen King's story, Kubrick turns The Shining into a severely disturbing, blood-curdling thriller/horror flick that will leave you on the edge of your seat, if not cowering behind some cushions. Absolutely incredible.

I don't think this was my type of film. It was creepy and the performances were great but it still bored me most of the time.

Something tells me this would happen with my family if we lived in a snowed in empty mansion. My mother would annoy my father to the point of breakdown where he eventually hallucinates and has conversations with the hotels phantom staff.

Considering the talent involved, I must say I was a bit disappointed. However, it has an incredibly good atmosphere as well as some very chilling and eerie moments. The acting is great. But it is just too slow moving at times where nothing is happening.
