A strange, very strange, western..It has a mystical feeling about it, not unlike Jarmusch's "Dead Man" (even though they are much different films)

Interesting and unusual western. I didn't quite know what to make of Millie Perkins performance, she was compelling in some ways, but at times her acting seemed poor. Either way, she was fascinating to watch. Good story

With only a cast of four, an 80 minute running time and Monte Hellman directing this is a near perfect Western. 'The Shooting' seems in a few ways like Two Lane Blacktop. existentialism poured all over a vast empty desert, characters we barely get to know and of course Warren Oates.

Ce film prouve une fois de plus que Monte Hellman est vraiment baleze ! Un western metaphysique prodigieux et de surcroit plein d'audace !

Jack Nicholson - 1967. Here goes:
"I don't give a curlyhair, yellowbear, double dog damn if you did" You've got to love him!
