But her work is ruined when the authorities suddenly shut down the old hospital in which she is working Plague spores contaminate its medieval foundations. ANNA is convinced that this ancient plague site holds an even darker secret. In her research she has stumbled on a murderous pattern of unexplained child deaths. This is a very cold case; the children disappeared in 1665, the year of the GREAT PLAGUE. The 'suits' at her museum don't buy her theories and they give the go-ahead for the hospital's imminent demolition. That night ANNA risks everything, and breaks back into the hospital to prove her suspicions. Reaching for a mysterious ancient artifact, she slips and falls. Meanwhile, NICK's 21st birthday celebrations are culminating in chaos. He just wanted a good night out with girlfriend JOOLZ, best mate STEVE and Steve's younger brother CLIVE. But a little innocent joy-riding goes badly wrong. After a fatal hit-and-run the teenagers hide out in the hospital and their fates become intertwined with ANNA'S. With luckless synchronicity two worlds collide and the ancient force that has snared the young people starts to play out its cruel game. ANNA has unwittingly resurrected the malevolent spirit of a hideous medieval PLAGUE DOCTOR, and one by one they will all encounter his evil reincarnation - their fates mirroring the cruel deaths of his victims 350 years ago. History is repeating itself. ANNA works against the clock to unlock the secrets of the murderous PLAGUE DOCTOR. In a twisted version of Alice Through The Looking Glass, the young people find themselves fighting for their lives - and souls - in a long-forgotten medieval underworld. The only way out is for ANNA to confront the PLAGUE DOCTOR. Can she destroy him, and stop his evil spreading like a plague epidemic, into today's world? MCT:August 12, 2008yet another sleeper... the storyline was aweful.. the hospital was way too dark.. alot of flash images of the kill scences.. which they tried to make spooky was just crappy... a major borefest...

MCT:August 11, 2008i thought the plague doctor was way cool! and the story is interesting but it gets trippy toward the end and hard to understand so that kinda hurt the movie for me and i thought they could of done without the nude pregnant lady running around

Visually pleasing supernatural slasher set in the remains of a plague hospital. Unfortunately, also an extremely slow flick with a bunch of unlikable characters and relatively little gore. If there's anything to watch this for, it's the villain - a looming, entirely black plague doctor uniform makes for an awesome slasher villain guise.

MCT:July 20, 2008Got "Sick" of this movie 15 min's in... Had to cut my losses & quit...lol, movies like these should start with a gratuitous sex scene. I mighta held on for another 15. LOL ;-)

Halfway through watching this movie, I gave up asking my couch-mate ?What?s going on?? As the movie progresses, the audience is never given enough information to assemble the pieces themselves; instead, they are left in constant confusion, unsure of how one event connects to another. The veil is only lifted when the archeologist explains an item she has uncovered in a hidden room. Then the overall picture becomes clearer but individual onscreen events still make little sense.
The atmosphere is generally creepy and particular scenes are disturbing but anyone knows good horror movies have more than just ambiance. The filmmakers developed a lucrative idea but the director?s attempts at stylization results in overkill and perplexity.

Wouldn't it be something if they really started the plague all over again? The bird masks look very demented. -

The way it was presented I think, made this film so bad., The story was twisted., In my opinion, Gina Philips is a good actress but I don't think the others are., The movie was like unrealistic., although plague itself has been part of a history.,

Give props to director Curtis Radclyffe. This ambitiously shot film looks great and will definitely land him some more gigs. That being said this movie is ultimately uneven repetitive drivel that needed a tighter more focused screenplay and may have benefited from a re-cut or re-edit before being released. Appreciated the unpredictable twisty ending however it doesn't really help make the movie any better.
Atmospherically dreary yet flawed.
DVD WORTHY:
Only if your a hardcore suspense/horror fan or Gina Phillips fan. Even then...
BLU-RAY (Hi-Def) WORTHY:
The look of this film does impress, however you should pass. -
