A movie about the relationship between htree sisters, their family dynamics, and their respective love interests. A character driven film withou the glitz and glam
soo much drama and such great acting !!! wowzers ! so relatable .. when you think all is calm the characters turn it around into a rollercoaster of real life family troubles.
although the comments and reviews i've seen on this one are not favorable, this movie made an impression on me. It has many plots, and very interesting and original screenplay about the life of 3 sisters and their brother and the rest of the family and entourage, with lots of secrets and things that have been hidden for soo long and just begging to be revealed. A clever film with plenty of intriguing argueings and fights and envy and so many others. Not particularly a fan of this genre so i guess that's why i rated it like this, probably deserves more or less, i honestly don't know what think. It's a good movie anyway!
The movie is basiically about the 3 sisters,
a man who knew their father, comes into their lives and then they start talking about "Father" the two older sisters, belt him up as a hero to the younger sister....but in reality he was a monster.
Good acting, and good casting..The movie however kinda sucked..and the ending felt incomplete.
Very enjoyable film that has this "theatre" feel to it, mostly because of the few scene changes and a lot of focus on the dialogues.
Speaking of dialogues, they are brilliant! You can't deny its scholarly nature punctuated with witty remarks, clever phrases and tons of sarcasm (perhaps snide remarks too). Everything is just so nicely phrased and expressed that it hooks you, pulls you in and makes you a part of the scene too.
Casting is great, and I was especially surprised and taken aback by Maria Bello's talent, whom I have despised for quite a while and for no apparent reason (I love her now because of this movie).
This film kept me watching it in its entirety mostly because of all the different and varicolored characters that were captivating but also very interesting - not a single character resembles the next.
If, like me, you haven't read Chekhov's original work, "Three Sisters", then you will most probably want to read it after watching this film.
Not too melodramatic nor dull, this is an excellent drama!
Basically I felt like I was watching a soap opera... It's an independant movie, but I have rarely seen such a good representation of "contemporary classic american cinema"... doesn't break any mold and is way too theatrical for my tastes
This film is one word: raw. There isn't really a plot even to the movie, but more a glimpse at this family's life and who is immediately involved with them. But don't let this stop you! I know there are some of you that are turned off by "family" dramas, but this is amazing. The dialogue is it's strong point as almost everyone involved is a scholar of some sort, leaving the comments, quirks, and humor all very sophisticated. But no matter what words or references they use to decorate their lives with, there is still an amazing amount of raw emotion here. The characters all full, lush and real and it was an amazing adaptation of Anton Chekhov's play, "The Three Sisters." I would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed Closer or The Squid and the Whale.
multa cultura + multa ironia + sinceritate absoluta + autocritica si critica in general + constintizare absoluta a vietii pe care o traieste = un film despre viata incredibil de tare
Aaaaahhhhhh! My brain still hurts from all the arguing! For 99% of the film I just wanted to reach through the screen and slit Maria Bello's throat. She was such a pretencious bitch. Dammit!
This was the most melodramatic piece of crap I've seen all year.
bah!
The dialogue reads too much like the stageplay. I know some people enjoy that, but for me it just didn't work. I find it really hard to find people endearing when they're so full of themselves, yet complain about problems, which are solely their fault.
An ultra-stagy melodrama that features a particularly corny ending and an incredibly fierce performance by Maria Bello (and good support by Mary Stuart Masterson).
If you think you have a dysfunctional family, you haven't seen anything until you meet the Prior Sisters. The Sisters is a very emotional as well as very intelligent movie. The sophisticated dialogue expects you to be able to grasp the concepts and the wittiscm fairly quickly. I particularily enjoyed the acute verbosity, being a self-professed sesquipedalian. The plot was engaging and the actors were very well suited to their characters. Especially Eric McCormack, he had the most profound character in the movie and he worked the temperament very very well, his repartee and sarcasm was intense and vivid. Maria Bello was also noteworthy in her performance. The only reason I did not give this movie 5 stars is because of the rather abrupt and unsatisfying ending.
Looks interestin.......& i like the fact that its bout sister coz hav alot of sister.....& mybe i can learn somethin from it....lol....like i learn any thin......
This movie is great to let guys show thier girlfriends that they will do ANYTHING for them just by going to see it. Otherwise, why would anybody want to see it, Really??
