  Nic Cage looked like he was having lot of fun through some of the movie other parts just looked bleh. it was okay. Good kids fun. All 4 kids with us liked this movie.

  Balthazar: I have been searching all over the world for you. You're going to be a force for good and a very important sorcerer. But for now, you're my apprentice. The Sorcerer's Apprentice is truly painful movie to watch. Basically, it's an hour and forty minutes of special effects; topped off with horrible characters and bad dialogue. It's just more proof that Nicholas Cage isn't picking his movies based on quality anymore.  First off, if you want to make a convincing sorcerer to cast Jay Barchuel as the sorcerer. I'm getting sick and tired of watching unconvincing actors acting as heroes. It's acceptable in movies like Zombieland because Jesse Eisenberg can actually act. This Barchuel guy is horrible and his voice is annoying as hell. The plot doesn't even matter in Sorcerer's Apprentice because it is all about showing off their impressive effects. That's fine, but at least attempt to have characters that aren't as flat as a board. The movie also attempts to be funny at times, but the jokes come off as sad and fall one hundred miles away from being funny. I guess if I was four, I may think that some of the jokes are funny. Thats what makes the good kids movies good; their ability to appeal to both kids and adults. This doesn't do that at all. It probably doesn't even appeal to a great majority of kids. One positive I can take out of this is Teressa Palmer. She doesn't act well in the movie, but she's alright to look at. The Sorcerer's Apprentice is another movie from 2010 that would definitely classify as one of the worst films of the year.

  The best compliment of a film featuring Nicolas Cage as of late: not half bad. It's a Disney film, child friendly but includes asides, inside jokes, and references for the adults. Plus, the magic and action sequences were pretty cool. The cast was solid, but certain roles were odd. Cage is stuck in another sucky role from which he can't act out of, Molina is again a villain, this one as ridiculous as Dr. Octopus from Spiderman 2, and the fact that the amazing Monica Bellucci has anything to do with this film is mind boggling. Baruchel on the other hand is perfectly cast, being both pleasantly goofy and yet just awkward enough without nudging into an unlikable character. Though he is a benign hero when dealing with a back-story of Arthurian legend, it's still good as a family flick or just something to watch to relax. Plus, there's a sequence directly inspired by the animated Disney classic Fantasia, an homage that sent me into giggle fits of nerdy proportions.

  An entertaining family adventure film most will enjoy. It is big budget and that shows in the amount of CGI effects, but at least they do look good. Not particularly original, it does pay homage to Disney's Fantasia at one point which was a nice touch. Kinda reminded me of the films I enjoyed when I was younger like The Neverending story. Fun for all ages if falling short of a classic.

  An absolute blast at the movies. A tremendously entertaining and spectacular action-packed adventure. This movie has it all, action, comedy, suspense and amazing special effects. It's wickedly funny and dazzlingly eye-popping with stunning visuals. A terrific action-comedy that the whole family including you will love. Director, Jon Turteltaub and Producer, Jerry Brdcukheimer have done it again, first with the entertaining National Treasure series and now this wonderfully entertaining piece of movie magic. Nicholas Cage and Jay Baruchel have great chemistry together, they bounce great ideas and humor off one another and just bring more heart to the film. Cage is wonderful, he is just having a great time in this role. A magical and magnificent film.

  A full length real life version of a Mickey Mouse film not starring Micky Mouse. Has it really come to this? I know, I know, film making is a business too but c'mon, really, this is getting pathetic. I watched the making of after watching the film and I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Turdeltaub and Suckheimer boasted about how much they spent on a set that got only 2 seconds worth of footage, the amazing detail completely invisible to the audience. The post-production costs were huge, and they spent a lot of time on some really cool things, none of which appeared, or at least not for very long in the the finished film. They spent very little time on the script, story and characters though. They would both be great at running a theme park but they are both horrible at making films, I hate what they do with a passion. All that money could go to better use (or make three or four great films) but then again, they will always get their money back because the audience is just as brain dead as they are. 'Leave your brain at home', 'You think about it too much', 'Enjoy it for what it is' - Delete yourself from my friends list if you even think of replying with one of these statements. They also seem to have forgotten that Fantasia was about the music just as much as it was about the animation. Pah, what ever, it's nothing new, it just annoys me is all. It probably won't surprise anyone that I dislike Disney too. I think they are a bad influence on Children, what with there sugar coating, re-writing of classic literature and total disregard to actual historic events. The opening of this film states that it is the year 2000. Where is the World Trade Centre? Did they feel it would offend us to have bought back bad memories if they included the Twin Towers? Lets brush that unpleasant bit of history under the carpet eh, forget it even happened, that's the magic of Disney! The acting is pretty bad too, although what are you supposed to do with an awful script? Mr. Cage, I'm still a fan but only just! The interview with him in the making of is quite funny, he obviously has just had a long drink (and an even longer spliff) just to get him through it. Alfred Molina actually does a pretty good job. Jay Baruchel plays it Goofy rather than Mickey, Teresa Palmer might as well have been played by a cardboard cut out and as for Toby Kebbell, well, I hope he got paid very well here, as he has gone down dramatically in the respect stakes. Giving the beautiful Monica Bellucci only 5 minutes of screen time was criminal, not to mention puzzling, I also hope she's was paid well. Close the lid and get the undertaker on the phone, hammer and nails at the ready as it will undoubtedly lead to a string of sequels. The silver screen is looking a little bit more like tin foil every year it seems.

  It's the same story as about a hundred other movies, and most the acting is very over the top(although this is that kind of movie). The lone performance that is good is that of Jay Baruchel(David), but he plays the same character as he does in all his movies. The best thing about this movie are the special effects, and they are fantastic! The movie may not be great, but it is visual beauty. Worth one watch for the effects, but after the "oohs" and "aahhs" wear off, there's not much left.

  Jon Turtletaub plays with magic and what comes out is the visually pleasing <i>The Sorcerer's Apprentice</i>.<p>This film does have an interesting storyline, although it does tend to lighten up in the middle; nevertheless, at just over 1 hour and 40 minutes, a little longer if including the scene after the end credits, everything holds together from start to finish.</p><p>The highlight of the picture are the visuals. Yes, the lovely beauties in Teresa Palmer and Monica Bellucci contribute to this, but for a story that revolves around sorcery, the CG isn't held back. The film consistently pumps out the visuals and each effect is as good as the next.</p><p>The characters do need some work. The acting on the other hand, not so much. Although a little monotone from time to time, Nicolas Cage's witty lines are a plus. Alfred Molina is an enjoyable antagonist and Jay Baruchel is a fitting science geek. Toby Kebbell has himself quite the amusing character.</p><p><i>The Sorcerer's Apprentice</i> is better than average all around, thus making it a good recommendation.</p>

  Wonderfully whiz-bang film at the present, not in the epic. I see something familiar of what Dave (Jay Baruchel) must get his fuzzy head around his destiny as greatest-sorcerer-of-all-time and animate some mops to clean up a disused Subway hall. Well meant but half-hearted is the requisite re-run of <i>Fantasia</i>'s glorious musical number, to a remix of Paul Dukas's celebrated symphonic poem. <i>National Treasure</i> director Jon Turteltaub's modus operandi is to make pale, me-too versions of pop formula. Think: neo-<i>Pirates</i>, with a touch of Tolkien. Goethe's ethnic notwithstanding, the basic concept behind <i>The Sorcerer's Apprentice</i> update is a winner - Gandalf fights Saruman, on Madison. Less sarky than <i>Enchanted</i>, it grooves on Hobbits, Potter and Jedi; <i>American Pie</i> with spells.

Only thing positive was CGI, apart from that this movie should just go straight to the redbox where other ridiculous titles such as The eXperiment belong.

  There is nothing offensively bad about "The Sorcerer's Apprentice." Problem is it's just so bland, so average, and so instantly forgettable! You'll have trouble recalling wheather or not you've actually seen it in no time.
