The newest cheerleader, Kate, is a journalism student who is using her experience on the squad for a feminist paper she is writing for her thesis. While working on the paper, Kate comes to believe that the cheerleaders and football players deserve more respect, and she uncovers a gambling ring that involves the coach, who is also the professor with whom Lisa is having an affair, as well as Mary Ann's father.
