The Ten Reviews and Ratings

Not amazing, not terrible. It starts and finishes as a goofy and somewhat awkward movie I wouldn't necessarily recommend.
  • November 20, 2009
Fun at first with outside-of-the-box writing and skits... but fails to truely impress
  • October 28, 2009
started watching the film, and got only to the fourth story before gave up. The humor is strange and the stories are just stupid and very not intelligent. SKEEP IT!

After watching this movie I thought "Why did I just sit through that movie?" After wathcing it a second time you appreciate the comedy a little more. I despised the end montage though. It turned the rest of the vingettes into mush with a crappy feel good-trying to hard to be funn...( read more)y-song.

The most interestingt thing to this movie for me would be the cast. On the surface, these are not your typical comedic actors as would might except. I dont see Adam, or Will, Ben, or Owen, or Sean William, et. al. The cast is mostly ppl who have portrayed more serious roles...yet...( read more) they are doing a comedy. Could be interesting, if they can pull it off.

sounds like a heretic comedy....it good that it exploits all religious precepts:D
i have some ideas for it. this movie was bland and gentle as compared to my idea of The ten.
  • August 30, 2009
Crap. I thought I'd enjoy this but the only thing that lifted the film was Liev Schreiber. Very disappointed.
  • August 9, 2009
It was ok, it's a shame that this movie wasn't a whole story instead of 10 stories.
  • August 9, 2009
kinda funny. I still quote parts of it, but I'd only see it once.
  • August 4, 2009
Not as funny as I was hoping or expecting, given the fact that EVERY member of The State was in this movie. A great cast but unfortunately most of them aren't around long enough to enjoy as the stories are way too short. And that musical number at the end almost killed it for me....( read more) In the plus column, Jessica Alba and Adam Brody aren't around too much. Lots of great in-jokes and parts (namely the CAT scan segment with Liev Schreiber and the Oliver Platt segments.) The Ten is funny and the humor is great, it's just kind of a shame that the pace of the movie doesn't really allow the film to reach its full potential. A second viewing of the movie pretty much cemented my original opinion of the movie. Although it did leave me with a hankering for Roberta Flack...

I bought this movie without ever having heard of it because I love Paul Rudd. Weird is the first word that came to mind. I was entertained though.
  • July 18, 2009
There was more miss than hit in the stories/sketches, Winona Ryder shines the brightest though this film seemed like it could of been more blasphemis and edgy
  • July 3, 2009
Essentially a 90-minute sketch show. Great cast, a lot of (absurd) fun, but it could've been better.
  • July 2, 2009
    Quirky film. Watch it.
  • June 29, 2009
A movie with some interesting stories in the start goes bvery fast (after the 3rd story)to a nihil level. too american way of comedy. Quite interesting and expected results for each story !!
  • June 22, 2009
If you don't mide the whole 10 seperate stories that we are going to pretend is an entire movie I guess you might like it. But I was expecting an actual plot and not one that eventually shows up to link them all together.

What can one say about this comedy about the Ten Commandments? Godawful.
  • April 22, 2009
Really bad, but quite often pretty funny. Still among the betters ones in this genre.
  • April 17, 2009
The Ten is more goofy and strange than it is funny. Hell, it's even a bit stupid at times. But it has it's moments due to the talented cast.

I especially liked Liev Schreiber as a cop obsessed with outdoing his neighbor with the amount of cat-scans he can buy. While Winon...( read more)a Ryder showed some courage playing the part of a woman who falls for a comedian's dummy lol. Despite everyone trying hard though, The Ten was kind of flat.
  • April 6, 2009
Was a good idea to make a movie telling a story for each one of the ten commandments but this was just shit. Some were ok like Wynonna ryder banging the dummy but even Paul Rudd couldnt save this. I seriously hate Jessica alba shes not funny at all.
  • March 27, 2009
Should have been much more ammusing (and biting) given the cast and writters that were involved, but still an enjoyable film.

A (very loose) modern interpretation of the ten commandments.

Worth seeing just for Winona Ryders brilliant & hilarious performance (involving a v...( read more)entriiloquists dummy) in the "charming" vignette for the 8th commandment: "Thou shall not steal".
  • March 10, 2009
The Ten got a few laughs from me, but I was kind of disappointed because I thought it had a lot of potential. Paul Rudd is hilarious, of course, and I thought Liev Schreiber and Winona Ryder were really funny too.
  • March 2, 2009
    What a stupid movie.
  • March 1, 2009
Some very odd casting decisions and cold turkey skits but there's definitely highlights most notably the entire 'Lying Rhino' vignette which is one of the few moments that fully displays Wain's comedic genius.
  • February 15, 2009
Great concept and plenty of laughs, but somehow you feel empty at the end.
  • February 14, 2009
Very bad... just screwball, it doesn't make laugh. it's a shame i was a good chance to make a perfect comedy.
  • February 1, 2009
the worst movie ever....!!!!there was no point!!!!!
  • January 23, 2009
    Very Sacreligious but hilarious
  • December 29, 2008
I thought some parts were so0o0o funny! I liked it alot
  • December 20, 2008
This movie is really hilarious. It is a piece of insanity from this great comedy troupe, reminding me much of Wet Hot American Summer. A great cast all deliver some ridiculous laughs. Not for the homophobic or very religious.
  • December 14, 2008
silly story.but funny.ridiclous. but good.i dont know what to say?just watch it.u will laugh.
  • November 25, 2008
There are just enough surprisingly amusing moments to keep this from being a complete waste of time.
  • November 21, 2008
The word I'm looking for is ROFLMAO haha oh man... this was crazy good times. Maybe it's just cuz I'm sleepy but I loved it.
  • October 27, 2008
I couldn't even finish the movie, made it to the fifth story and decided that I had let enough brain cells die.
  • October 20, 2008
kinda silly but the stories tied together and the song and dance routine was funny
  • October 19, 2008
i did not like this one, it was funny at times but not what i thought it would be, so a major downer for me, lol
  • October 17, 2008
    No thankyou - Not interested
  • October 10, 2008
This was one of those movies that just happened to be on when nothing else was and I was kinda sucked in and it turned out to be pretty interesting.
  • October 8, 2008
Could be the worst movie in the history of mankind... quite possibly
  • August 30, 2008
Yeesh,What to say,Um how about unless you have NOTHING else to watch at all.It had some stupidly funny moments, but its mostly just well....Stupid.
  • August 30, 2008
    hmm.. two-thumbs down
  • August 25, 2008
Just another parody, some funny parts but nothing to write home about.
  • August 15, 2008
I SAW IT...AND I DID NOT LIKE IT
  • August 12, 2008
Had a couple moments and the ending was good, but I was overall bored and didn't care much for Paul Rudd'which was the only reason I rented this movie in the first place. You can defently skip this one dispite some good cast members
