This film starts out hilarious and then loses momentum. The humor from these ten stories comes completely out of left field. The absurd and shock becomes stale and boring after a while. The premise is good but not for a 90 minute film.
Had a couple moments and the ending was good, but I was overall bored and didn't care much for Paul Rudd'which was the only reason I rented this movie in the first place. You can defently skip this one dispite some good cast members
A must see for any fans of Wet Hot American Summer or Stella. Full of quotes, and so completely packed full of jokes you'll never catch them all on the first viewing.
Funny movie. The first story was funny. The guy jumped out of the plane without his parachute then he gets stuck in the ground. The second best story was with the doctor who left the scissors in the ladies stomach as a goof. Really good movie. Awesome. Paul Rudd was awesome in it.
Not worth the time of day - a stupid comedy masqurading as a witty comedy. The scene with Winona Ryder and the Dummy will get a laugh out of most people - earns a star just for that scene!
10 "funny" episodes of the commandments. Funny? Well not really. If 2 episodes out of 10 are funny, and the rest just crap, is it worth a look? Nuff said...
A good way to kill a couple of hours. It isn't exactly gut bustingly funny, but some of the parts were so absurd that you just had to laugh at them. David Wain has good comedic sensiblities, too bad he can't use them to make better movies.
Without such an amazing cast (Winona Ryder's crazed dummy love in particular), this movie could have been very, very bad. A palpable awkwardness spreads over the ten short films, but that only deepens and intensifies the comedy. There are not as many laugh-out-loud moments as I expected, and unfortunately, just as many duds. But it's an incredible idea and definitely deserves some love.
i cant look at you without fantasizing about shoving you against a wall in the laundry room punching you in the face and then raping you..without your consent of course
There were some really funny stories especially the Gretchen Mol sketch. Others seemed to be overly pushed to be funny. Paul Rudd was very good in his typical deadpan funny aproach. Winona Ryder does a great job in her sketch working with the ventrilaquist dummy. I could go back and watch the ones I really liked over and over again and skip the less funny ones.
i thought perhaps this film would have been funny seeing as it was making fun of the 10 commandements, but it was utterly stupid i couldn't even finish it, i didn't like anything bascically. The acting was just scary and the skits weren't even funny. Im totally scarred having seen Winona Ryder have sex with a dummy. The only good bit was probably the one with Liev Schreiber where he get's all the cat scnas other than that i really did not like this film.
if you want to watch something utterly brainless, stupid and occasionly funny (mainly because of how utterly stupid it is) then this is the movie for you. on the other hand if you want a genuinely funny movie, then don't bother. considering the high quality of many of the actors quite dissapointing
surprisingly better than expected, but it's definitely a cult movie, where i can see why some may not love it. if you loved the show stella or aressted development you would love this film.
I watched this mainly due to Winona Ryder. The thing I don't understand is what the hell. occasional interesting albeit stupid fun humour but lots of sections that feel awfully contrived. I'm still lost, I actually like this kind of silly comedies and found it fun. It was that but something else I hated. I disliked the last part a lot, I disliked this whole morality story and whatever the hell it was. I liked the Hispanic guy a lot and the goofer. Damn this.
Surrealism at its silliest! I intend to do a blog about this soon, so I'll be brief. Funny people, mostly on-point gags, and a format conducive to the absurd equal adequate laughs.
