A great start of one of the most sucessfull sci fi franchises of movie history and one of best movies of the 80īs.Aronld Schwarzenegger found the role of a lifetime on Terminator.His perfomance is amazing but at the same he creates a great presence and darkness on the character.James Cameron brought a lot of action,intensity and a great storyline,something he would give to his following movies.I donīt see this movie as regular Arnold film.Terminator goes way beyond to science fiction and action.Itīs the kind of movie people can enjoy it every single time of their life.
Terminator 2 may be the best but The Terminator is one of the best movies of all time and i īm very happy for having it to my collection.
Damn, this movie rocks! The idea is original, awesome and creative. The acting is great. The cinematography, editing and direction are just fine, and the action is AWESOME.
and the almost too famous line "I'll Be Back". It was always so cool to watch this guy walk the walk. And for some reason it was so simply funny and full of action. :)
I almost got to see this in the theater as a kid in 1984, but my babysitter vetoed the decision saying, "Do we really wanna see Arnold Schwarzenegger blow up the world?" So, she took me and my sister to see Runaway instead. I did eventually get to see the movie on the big screen. Stellar!!!!!!!!
Most likely one of the most unique storylines ever created. Director James Cameron is a genius, and always manages to come up with very crazy and amazing storylines. Arnold stars as "The Terminator" sent from the future to kill Sarah Connor. Why? Just watch the movie!
Um, yeah, that was pretty freaking AMAZING and I'm rather shocked by how much I LOVED it. Reese...Reese was soooo tragic hero...this movie kicks ass. Seriously.
James Cameron is a perfectionist and he really took his time with this movie, and despite the fact that this movie was made early at that time tech. is not so developed as showns, it is really good simply because the storyline is so good. Of course the effects arent as grand as today bt it was great at that timewith low budget.In my opniont the actors did a terrific job, the over all look of the movie is very good. And the storyline actually makes sence!.. Also Schwarzenegger is just Awesome

The Terminator has not lost its appeal. Okay, the SFX are outdated but what I've heard, the budget was lower than nothing. The film has tremendous action sequences and fine acting.
The film launched "The Governator" into stardom (and of course Mr Cameron also) and now 25 years later, the film has a status of a true classic.

One of James Cameron's best. This film was way ahead of it's time regarding the story and fx. Arnie played such a sick cold blooded killer. I still like this the best out of all 3 Terminators
For having been made in the early 80's, this movie does a good job with its special effects, although Schwarzenegger's make up at the end looks fake and a little creepy, but I guess it adds to "theme" of the movie. When you look at it as just one movie without any sequels, it's a standard action movie with a villain, a hero, or in this case two, and a heroin. When you see it as the precedent of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, it's not that great, but it serves its purpose. I loved the final scene, for me, it's what makes this movie more than just an action movie.
The TERMINATOR has a flawed concept at it?s very core. The premise that computer AI, when advanced enough, will decide to eradicate all human life. If that is true, as the movies and show implies, then humanity is inevitably dead. There can be no prevention. There can be no victory. Humanity would be dead. The ONLY chance for survival that hu8mans would have would be to prove that premise incorrect. To find a way for computer AI, at it?s most advanced, to WANT to live harmoniously with humanity. The only hope we would get.
The other obvious issue is the idea that John Connor is the singular, and unique, savior of all mankind. First of all, what about him would be so special? Secondly, if they went back in time to create John, why not just create a world of Saviors?
The other problem I have with the TERMINATOR series is the dichotomy of a force of humans fighting for humanity, all of whom seem to have no connection to humanity whatsoever. They are all miserable, unjoyous, and full of hate and resentment. The characters that end up seeming the closest to human are the robots who are struggling to fight for good.
A great sci fi from James Cameron. Arnold Schwarzenegger is great as The Terminator and has to be his greatest ever film performance. Love the catchprase : ill be back. A great film !!
Somehow, I managed to exist for 27 years without ever seeing this film. I didn't even know anything about the storyline going into it. But, my good friend Dave recommended it to me so I decided to check it out. I was instantly hooked, literally sitting on the edge of my couch. I love the Sarah Connor storyline - female heroes rock!! What I enjoy most about the story is the concept of time travel. It's interesting to think about how one is affected by knowing the future. Was Sarah able to kick ass in this film because Reiss told her she kicked ass in the future? So much to think about. Love it. love it, love it! (8-6-08)
