It was a sad thing for them to try and duplicate what made the original so amazing. It just couldn't be matched or even nearly. Something Halloween, another gritty first horror movie managed to do.
What in the world could be more relevent than a chainsaw held against the spread legs of a young lady ? I liked this. However I can easily guess the budget for this sequel was quite significant; but as a result, the movie lacks the raw edge of the original.
sequel to 1974 "texas chainsaw massacre". reprise of director tobe hooper direct this film who did direct from original "texas chainsaw massacre". lefty(dennis hopper)who is the his nephew(one of the wheelchair)who from the original "texas chainsaw massacre" is revenge them. chop-top look weirdo of the hippie.
Wasn't as good as part one. I'm watching all the old Leatherface movies. This movie wasn't all that good because Leatherface was being nice to the lady. It was sweet and all but he's supposed to be a killer.
Dennis Hopper. Stretch, Leatherface and sex and the successful business was interesting. And I liked that it was the family that was being hunted. But that cavernous vagina of a home was entirely too elaborate to be believable. That was clearly made by two dozen talented craftspeople and not three cannibals.
I think it was better than the first in terms of believable plot. Dennis Hopper really rocked. A bit too much red and orange in the color of the film though. :(
wow i really loved all of these movies..these are all a really enjoyable series of movies 2 watch throughout because they are all enjoyable in there own ways...dennis hopper is brilliant in this movie as the ( i think he played the sheriff in this movie but i cannot rememeber because its been ages since i saw this movie)..this is a good thriller movie because the director keeps the viewers on the edge of your seat throughout this movie because you never know what 2 expect from all these movies..
The answer to who the movie really centers on, is not as simple as could be sounded. This nice little sequel (thats right! a GOOD sequel), the attention could easily be said to circle around Williamss' Stretch, but Dennis Hopper gets the only billing. One "normal" day in Texas, two naughty little highschool brats decide to have fun, by calling in a radio station(hosted by an enthusiastic Williams) and play chicken with other texans, they think. Later, these angered Texans turn out to be, uh huh! Ya, we all know who, as they attack the little brats one dark night following the earlier prank. Williams "Stretch" catches all of this gore galore on tape, and exposes it on her show as a favor for Hopper. Hopper has underacted character who's revenge for the massacre and torture of his nephew and niece (Sally and Franklin from the first) is somewhat unconvincible to an extent, but he has better moments. Williams, on the other hand, is very into her character and obviously takes it to the next level, with some hammy moments resaulting. Still, after she exposes the missing Saw-yer family-she is next! Pretty scary stuff. Nice little set-up puts her in an awfully creepy confrontation with Moseleys' Chop-Top". Then the real terror begins. This one could easily be said to have been just a little more expanded than the first, and I certainly say so. I do, however, put the first one on a higher stand, nothing will ever beat the original nightmare, which still scares to this day. Though Massacre 2 has its real moments of both horror and comedy, it drags in the last real, and won't give up! Tobe Hooper must have worked em all with this one, but its all the same a great fun movie. To say it is bad, would be too harsh, I definitely give this one a thumbs up, and ya know what? I'm not the only one!
Hopper (as God's right hand sheriff) is the best part of this flick. The grandpa gimmick is done again successfully, and this manic character controlling Leatherface is refreshingly witty and political. But that's where the goodness ends, as this is simply not very scary, being primarily set in places other than Leatherface's house and homegrounds.
Fantastic surreal comedy/horror follow up to the gritty classic. Seriously underrated and overlooked, this is one of my favorite movies of the genre. Those who haven't see it, my words of advice: Go in with an open mind and enjoy the ride.
A worthy follow-up to Tobe Hooper's horror masterpiece! this one is more of a comedy than a serious one like the original and offers more gore thanks to the make-up wizardy of Tom Savini.
Dennis Hooper takes the show as Lt. Lefty Enright as he seeks revenge against the flesh-eating bastards that killed his sister. This is what made Bill Moseley who he is today.
This movie is, IMO, seriously underrated. Yeah, it's not the absolute masterpiece the original was, but I still enjoy it a great deal, over-the-top as it is. Bill Moseley in particular turns in a hilarious performance as Chop Top, one that he would only top (though not so humorously) as Otis P. Driftwood in HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES and (especially) THE DEVIL'S REJECTS. Bill Johnson is a more than adequate replacement for Gunnar Hansen, and Jim Siedow as the cook is his usual delightful self. Dennis Hopper's character is quite fun as well.
What was all the hype about? Going into the movie I thought it'd be a really funny horror movie with tons of gore. But instead I got a really mediocre, boring attempt to make a sequel to one of my favorite horror movies.
A very squirrelly sequel with Dennis Hopper alternately chewing scenery or disappearing for oddly long stretches of time.
Fun for Bill Mosely as Chop Top, and Leatherface appears to do a puzzling shimmy shake when waving the chainsaw overhead that made me think of Saturday Night Fever, so that's worth a laugh.
Man, this really suck. It's like some sort of attempt for a parody on one of the greatest horror flicks in all time. It's just respect less and tiresome. What ever happened to the soundtrack and overall uglyness from the first? And leather face... *Sob* Give me back Gunnar Hansen, and let him make the process short with that hyperactive, 20 cents actor in a cheap leather mask! A plus for Dennis Hopper, though. He did great with the few scenes he got, and is the highlight of the movie among with Jim Siedow.
ok this has got to be the most poorly acted, worst story line to a movie ever. this is the absolute stupidest movie I have ever seen in my whole life. even worse than The Day The Earth Stood Still, which was made in '52. pathetic for '86 and even Dustin Hoffman did a poor job in this, sadly. maybe everyone was asked to suck, but hey, I don't work there. sue me.
