I heard it was really big in it's day, and I must admit the effects were very good for then! Kept you on the edge of your seat the whole time, a real good disaster movie! However it is a little bit too long for what it is portraying, couldn've shortened it, but it can't all be perfect.

Saw this at the drive-in years ago. Got kicked out because we were laughing too loud at the burning building. It was stupid.

The ultimate in star powered chaos. Everyone is super glamourous and imperiled, a truly guilty pleasure.

Great disaster-movie with many great actors: among them Steve McQueen, Poul Newman and Fred Astaire (as an old gentleman)

I don't think it's as good now as I did when I was little, but it's still good even if it's a bit dated.

One of the best Old school disaster films.
Fantastic Cast, the Effects (for the time) were amazing.
    General all-in-all- A Must see!

Great Movie, love the acting the filming and the Good old Fashioned trick photography. Not the flashy SPX.-keep's you on the edge of your seat. The only bad thing was that it was 2and 1/2 hours.

Let's watch a bunch of your favorite celebrities die! Hard to beat the Newman/McQueen combo though.

EXCELLENT - this movie made you think about the towers the US builds and the fire equipment that cannot reach the tall bldgs.

A little language but not bad. But this should defiantly be PG-13. Don't like to see the parts were people are burning but rest is great!

When I first saw this as a kid it was so exciting! Now it's not, but it's still good and the cast...

A soap opera disaster movie, directed and shot like a tv movie, but its got Newman, McQueen and Holden, and thats enough for me.

Exciting disaster picture featuring two of the decade's shiniest stars and some good suspense/action. A better example of this type than either The Poseidon Adventure or Earthquake.

One of the better 70s disaster movies with the trademark ensemble cast of heavyweights and has-beens. Like The Poseidon Adventure, it's entertainingly daft if taken with a liberal dose of salt, and it's worth it just to watch Newman and McQueen trying to out-alpha male each other.

One of the BEST fire movies ever with an actor that was taken away from us befor it was due, long live Steve McQueen. Definitively one to have in your home collection.

Not near as good as it wants to be and they sure wasted a lot of salary on big name stars that had mediocre performances.

I loved this movie, It definitally kept me guessing, full of suprises, and it had an awesome cast, Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, William Holden, I must admit Fred Astaire just seems out of place in this type of movie lol. I was half expecting him to get up in the middle of the movie and start dancing...that would have been interesting though.

When I saw this film at the age of nine years old in theatres around Christmas of 1974,it was one of the most breathtaking disaster films I ever saw and to this day it holds the title as one of the greatest ever. Watching Paul Newman and Steve McQueen is the roles of their careers is worth it.

My two siblings and I knew every line of this movie, we watched it everyday for years (when we got a video that is) one of the first epic disaster movies with a modern feel. Never really aged either unlike the rest of us.
