Brian Holcomb, CinemaBlend.com
The film seems to be straining at times for an existentialism way outside of its grasp. This isn't Camus; it's Rod Serling by way of Clint Eastwood's High Plains Drifter.

David Nusair, Reel Film Reviews
Even by the questionable standards of the straight-to-video arena, The Traveler comes off as an unwatchable and thoroughly aggravating cinematic experience...

Staci Layne Wilson, Sci-Fi Weekly
The Traveler yet another feature film with only a half-hour Twilight Zone episode materials' worth in it. That's not to say it's not worth a look, but don't expect too much.

Kilmer's coasting, but who could blame him? 15 years ago he was Batman and now he's in the wilds of Canada surrounded by local actors forced to act menacing for the director of Hammerhead: Shark Frenzy. I'd be sad too.

You know exactly what's happening about ten minutes in and how the whole thing is going to unfold.
