Geraldine Page proves why she was one of the preeminent actress of her time in this lovely, poignant film.
May not gain the momentum of some of the greats, but this is nonetheless a highly authentic, touching picture. Ms. Page's performance in particular is both effortless and brilliant. As well deserved an acting oscar as any I've seen.
I'd put this in the category of The Notebook. Another fine expression of what it means to grow old. If you don't get it, you need to. :o/
