Αυτό είναι ένα πρόχειρα φτιαφμένο αλλά ενδιαφέρων b-movie. Μια μικρή ομάδα σπουδαστών κολλεγίων περιφέρεται γύρω από ένα σπίτι και μιλάνε για μια σειρά τρόμων, επιθέσεων, θανάτων που έχουν σχέση με τη περιοχλη αυτή. Όπως το σκέφτομαι, το να περιφέρεσαι γύρω από ένα σκοτεινό μέρος όταν εκεί είναι ένα τέρας στο σπίτι, είναι λίγο ντεμοντέ. Ελάχιστα πράγματα με τα ειδικά εφέ, εξαιρετικά απλός διάλογος, και μια άκαμπτη εστίαση σε εκείνα τα σκαλοπάτια και τους διάδρομους δίνουν σε αυτό το b-movie μια μικρή ώθηση στο τρόμο που πρέπει να προσφέρει συνολικά. Το μεγαλύτερο πρόβλημα που έχω με αυτή την ταινία είναι ένα βασικό λάθος που γίνεται συχνά: για υπερβολικά μεγάλο χρονικό διάστημα οι κύριοι χαρακτήρες δεν καταλαβαίνουν ότι κινδυνεύουν. Ο αληθινός τρόμος απαιτεί εκείνη την δυνατότητα τα θύματα να γνωρίζουν τον κίνδυνό που τα διατρέχει. Τα άτομα σε αυτή την ταινία ιδέα δεν έχουν μέχρι περίπου σαράντα λεπτά στη περιήγηση τους στο στοιχειωμένο σπίτι.Μέχρι και εντελώς ψεύτικές λιποθυμίες βλέπουμε.Υπάρχει επίσης μια άσκοπη σκηνή sex για να μας δώσει την υποχρεωτική θηλυκή γυμνότητα....To gore είναι αυτό το στοιχέιο που ανεβάζει την βαθμολογία και το τέρας η Alyda ,που είναι πραγματικά τρομαχτικό και ως ιδέα μόνο(παρόλο που ούρλιαζε υπερβολικά).Υπάρχει και sequel έμαθα.Για να δούμε....

I have heard some people say that H.P. Lovecraft's works are unfilmable. I guess that I would say that they did a worthy job with "The Unnamable", but aside from the fact that another movie with a grotesque monster's property getting invaded by horny teens seems a little silly, the people here can't really act (well duh; these movies don't star Anthony Hopkins). Particularly laughable is the line "you're very brave." And if you remember the rules laid out in "Scream", you can guess which people survive here. -

For the most part this is a standard slasher. However, a great turn from Mark Kinsey Stephenson as Randolph Carter and a reasonably creepy atmosphere elevates this above its peers. Just.

There is little characterisation offered and one of the best monsters to ever be created is also ultimately wasted on this film.

MCT:June 2, 2007Awful movie with bland characters and historical inaccuracies (I don't care if there IS a demonic being living inside, a house from the 17th century is NOT going to be standing there in good condition 300 years later without any sort of preservation).
