We watched this in US history class in high school. I have always enjoyed it since then.

This movie is pretty good and the acting is strong all around. There's not much more to say about that, other than the scene on the stairs is one of the classic scenes in movie history.

Kevin Costner was good as usual. De Niro as Al Capone, arguably the greatest gangster of all time, was a let-down. Would have given this 4 stars if it weren't for the ending, which lacks logic.

A DePalma classic. One of my highest recommendations.

You can't beat a good gangster movie and this one's a true Classic. Set in the 1930's during the era of prohibition... And what a great cast with Connery, De Niro, Costner and Garcia. Loads of classic action in this one!! I love a good shoot out.

A minor 80s classic that launched the careers of numerous people involved, and re-launched Sean Connery, who turns in his best performance, if not the best performance in the film. Connery gives the film an edge, a sense of excitement, and an energy that keep it fresh. He also re...( read more)ceives a death scene that is quite fitting for a former Bond. De Niro is a bit disappointing as Capone, but does bare a striking resemblance to the infamous bootlegger. The violence is brutal, especially the shootout in the train station and when Capone beats one of his men to death with a baseball bat at a fancy dinner party. Morricone's score is, deservedly, a classic of the genre.

The Untouchables is no doubt Brian DePalma's best movie. It stars Kevin Costner as Elliot Ness who wants to bring down Al Capone (Robert De Niro).

He forms a friendship and partnership with an old officer well played by Sean Connery. He also gets help from a young cop p...( read more)layed by Andy Garcia and Charles Martin Smith as I think a Lawyer.

The movie makes a good mob film due to De Niro's ruthlessness as Capone. He even gets to say "are you talking to me". It also offers some gripping scenes such as a baby carriage rolling down the stairs during a shoot-out.

The Movie's greatness starts with the excellent script by David Mamet and was made great by the direction of Brian DePalma. A must watch crime drama full of comedy, suspense and, memorable moments. Chicago gangster Al Capone brings alcohol in the states while its prohibitions in the 30's, and it engaged a war in the streets of chicago between cops and gangsters.

The Cast: Robert De Niro as gangland kingpin Al Capone , Kevin Costner as the federal agent Eliott Ness, Sean Conery as Eliott Ness mentor Malone, and Andy Garcia as Stone a young future cop.

Theres a lot of great line in this movie. And one of my favorite comes at the end when the journalist comes to Ness and told him:

They say they gonna repeal prohibition. What would you do then?

    I think I'll have a drink.

Ness answered with a smile on his face.

This is one of the best mob movies...
A must see if you like gangster movies.

MOST DeNIRO FILMS ARE GREAT AND THIS ONE IS NO EXCEPTION.
  • April 16, 2008
Very interesting plot, an incredibly young and beautiful Kevin Costner, and De Palma that remakes the famous scene from "The battleship Potemkin"....very good!
  • April 15, 2008
Great mob movie, with an equally great cast and good performances - although this isn't Costner's best performance, he could've been a little better. The sets and costumes are exceptional.
  • April 13, 2008
This is my personal favorite crime movie. With a stellar cast of Sean Connery, Kevin Costner, and Robert DeNiro, The Untouchables is a thrill ride of the Capone era.
  • April 13, 2008
Directed by the great DePalma, "The Untouchables" follows the struggle of Elliot Ness in bringing down Mighty AlCapone.
All-Star Cast headlined by Robert DeNiro, Kevin Costner and Sean Connery.
A Very good gangster movie, but can't rival The Godfather nor Goodfellas in any way.
  • April 12, 2008
I'm surprised i liked it, but i really did..
  • April 11, 2008

  • April 9, 2008
Pretty good. Not a big fan of Costner's acting, but DeNiro looks good in a fat suit
  • April 8, 2008
One of the all time classic...sean connery at his best
  • April 5, 2008
Great Costner and Connery movie. Gives a feeling of a gangster movie set in Chicago from the 1930's. Plus, young Kevin Costner.
  • April 5, 2008
Usually TV inspired movies don't work, but was a great movie. Great cast. Sean Connery got the Oscar and it was well deserved for his performance.
  • April 3, 2008
Great acting. Allot of gun fighting and action scenes. Some really memorable scenes.
