This is a great movie about bootlegging and Al Capone and the people who bring him in. The acting performances were good... despite Kevin Costner being in it >_>.

  • July 6, 2008
You may have fooled everyone else, DePalma, but I'm on to your chicanery.

A treasury agent, accountant, veteran beat cop, and a rookie sharpshooter team up to try to bring down Capone and end his corrupt grip on 1930's Chicago. Costner and DeNiro are believable as Ness and Capone but Connery, Garcia, and Smith are nothing short of brilliant as the rema...( read more)inder of the Untouchables. One of DePalma's best.

There's nothing extraordinary about Kevin Costner. He's a run of the line, craptacular performer. And this could have been great too, I mean it has Connery and by De Palma, responsible for the OTT awesome Scarface. As it stands it's good, but that log brings it down.

This is a brutal masterpiece of cinema. Beautifully crafted and the tension gets cranked up as the film goes on. You literally want more when the credits roll. Connery and Garcia give perfect performances and De Niro as usual is on top form, Pure classic!

I am giving this film 4 stars because i like the actors in it and their performances were actually very good. It was a fairly good film. I disliked the music. It seemed silly and out of place and there were a few scenes in the film which were quite cheesy. I don't know whether it...( read more) was intentional or not but it didn't seem to work....the train station scene for example. After watching this film a second time i like a little more. It has a likeable quality about it and some classic lines.

The music gives this choice a great flair. Sean Connery gives an Oscar winning performance as the seasoned Malone and Robert Deniro is perfectly cast as Al Capone. As usual Kevin Costner gives a rather too straight laced performance, but the story and supporting cast far outweigh...( read more) his slightly weak performance. De Palma is almost operatic in his handling and the whole style and feel of the film is fun, but serious. The stairs gunfight is a must see especially if you know what is giving a nod to.

De Niro with a baseball bat
  • June 20, 2008
Andy Garcia is awesome, great acting, memorable scenes like the stairs scene
  • June 15, 2008
Back in the 80's, Brian de Palma was one of the kings when it came to directing and he proves it here because this film is truly brilliant. The cinematography and directing alone is masterful and it makes you wonder where De Palma went wrong. The pacing in this film is tight, Kev...( read more)in Costner gives a good performance - though not as good as Sean Connery. It's a shame Robert De Niro is phoning in his performance, he's been far better. And then there's the stunning shootout in the station. This film is highly recommended.

Another gangster movie. This one was entertaining enough. The music, although epic and inspiring, really didn't seem to fit the movie. Love Sean Connery. Love Robert DeNiro.
  • June 12, 2008
Awesome movie. Great score. Sean Connery being the supreme badass
  • June 11, 2008

  • June 10, 2008
This movie is pretty good and the acting is strong all around. There's not much more to say about that, other than the scene on the stairs is one of the classic scenes in movie history.

al capone, " sir you are a liar, liar, liar. your pants are on fire!!"

An explosive crime drama. It's a classic cops vs criminals film. Barrels blazing action from begining to end. Kevin Costner gives a great performance. Sean Connery gives an excellent performance. Kevin Costner was good as usual. De Niro as Al Capone, arguably the greatest gangster of all time, was a let-down. Would have given this 4 stars if it weren't for the ending, which lacks logic.
  • June 4, 2008
A DePalma classic. One of my highest recommendations.

A minor 80s classic that launched the careers of numerous people involved, and re-launched Sean Connery, who turns in his best performance, if not the best performance in the film. Connery gives the film an edge, a sense of excitement, and an energy that keep it fresh. He also re...( read more)ceives a death scene that is quite fitting for a former Bond. De Niro is a bit disappointing as Capone, but does bare a striking resemblance to the infamous bootlegger. The violence is brutal, especially the shootout in the train station and when Capone beats one of his men to death with a baseball bat at a fancy dinner party. Morricone's score is, deservedly, a classic of the genre.
