Luke wilson is as cool as anything is this but its not enough to make this a good movie. Some funny bits by Owen Wilson and Will Ferrel but it could of been funnier.
The Wendell Baker Story...when you first see Wendell Baker smile it makes you smile too and feel happy. So who cares that he doesn't have a real job and doesn't know how to tell the hot Eva Mendes that he loves her, he still has the charisma to get people to like him. Speaking of Eva Mendes, she had no role in this movie besides pouting and being pretty, is this why I haven't seen her win any awards? Ouch! I don't know why I'm being so mean to her but c'mon really?! Anyways, the first half of this movie kinda dragged and Luke Wilson's looks alone couldn't carry it. I'm sorry I like Owen Wilson in other movies he's done but in this one I'm like if I've gotta see his broken ass nose and wonder why he gets acting jobs I'm gonna kill myself! Overall though, it was a good movie, it worked out nicely and I enjoyed the ending. If you trust Th!NKFilm, you should watch this one.
This wasn't exactly what I expected it to be, in fact it was pretty much the opposite of what this looked like just from the cover and synopsis. To me this looks like a comedy movie, with some great actors like Owen Wilson and Luke Wilson.. I thought it would easily get some laughs out of me. It ended up being average; not bad, just not as good as I would have thought. For me the jokes were just ones I smiled at, I think I only laughed out loud once. Still, this was worth seeing for myself.
Luke Wilson is Wendell Baker in this film, who to me came across as a nice, laid back guy that didn't think much about what other people would think about him. But when he is caught for making fake drivers licences with his friend, it's when he is sent to prison that he realises how much his girlfriend means to him. During the time he is behind bars, she leaves him for a grocery store worker. Once Wendell is out, with the help of some friends at a retirement hotel that he starts work at, he tries to get her back as well as fighting hotel corruption.
I had some doubts about Luke Wilson in this movie, only because the past few films of his that I have seen turned out to be.. well.. not exactly my type of movie. But he proved me wrong in this, he truly was great for the lead role. Somehow he perfectly fitted the character of Wendell Baker. Owen Wilson's part was smaller than I expected it to be, but he did make the most of it and made some scenes more enjoyable. Other's in the cast were so so.. nothing spectacular but then again no one unbearable.
Overall this was a pretty enjoyable movie to watch, but I wouldn't choose to watch this again anytime soon. If you like this type of movie then it shouldn't be disappointing, I just would rather watch something different. Still, I'm glad I saw it.. so if you haven't already, maybe you should see this for yourself.
Great acting but crappy story. It seems Luke is trying to build up a reputation by filming with so many has-beens and soon to be has-beens (Owen). He really tries to show his acting skills and he shows them well but I guess the story is too crappy to be able to give him a shot at the Oscars.
"Ladrão que engana ladrão" Uma enorme perda de tempo (e dinheiro, pros produtores do filme). É patético, não é engraçado, e o Luke Wilson nem tá bonito neste filme. Não recomendo pra ninguém.
What an entertaining light hearted yet very intricate story of a Mr. Baker, but you can call him Wendell. This character of his really reminded of someone I know so It was easy to fall in love with the character and his plans. I really enjoyed watching this film, it reminded of the 90's for some odd reason. Good movie!
I'll tell you two things that this movie already has going for it: a great cast and a very fast pace. The Wilson Brothers (all three of them) do an impeccable job of making this film fly by. The first act is a little slow and deceives you by being pretentious. As soon as it hits the second act, however, we are treated to wonderful performances that seem to come out of left field. The character of Wendell Baker never sticks in your mind. The character, for me at least, never becomes grounded and is used as a catalyst for the rest of the characters to tell their story. When the movie ends, you won't leave with a bad taste in your mouth. My best summary would be that The Wendell Baker Story is the fast food of great character driven comedies. It's a rental, but a very good rental.

I wasn't expecting much from this film. Not really funny and the writing for the first part of the film is kind of slow. Though it gets better and the story really picks up. I liked the addition of the 'senior' characters that practically steal the movie i.e. Kris Kristofferson, Seymour Cassel, and Harry Dean Stanton. The soundtrack was really good to.
This was an interesting movie to say the least I was entertained and I laughed a few times but in the end it just left me with that warm everything is going to be OK feeling.
Funny movie, different than most movies I like. But I enjoyed it. Luke Wilson was very good but I was very disappointed with Owen. But all in all a good movie.
I thought this would be funnier than it was. It just wasn't interesting at all and was very slow. It didn't move well at all and even if it had it still wouldn't have been a great storyline. It had a few funny moments but other than that was nothing special and quite boring actually. Not sure if I'd even recommend seeing this. Maybe if you're bored and have nothing better to do then I would say go ahead and rent it but by no means would I say to buy it. A few funny lines doesn't mean you should own it.
Not my type of movie, it does have its laughts, and it has its moments... great acting though and its nice to see Owen Wilson and Luke Wilson eorking together, its interesting I guess... Andrew Wilson directs so its fun I guess.
You know, I REALLY wanted to like this movie, but just couldn't. The acting is fair and the story just doesn't cut it. For a film having Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell, and Eva Mendes, I expected a lot more.
This was Luke Wilson's directing debut and he does a decent job. My expectations were low going into it but I enjoy the Wilson bros' sense of humor and there were some cameos from great actors (not including Mendes who is way more suited to be a model than an actress). Pretty funny & decently enjoyable.
This film is good cose it idea is: to don?t forget our person who we love and take care about him or her even if when we are in a bad luck in our days cose the person that we love don?t know our problem or we should tell him or her about it.
