Ponderous and quickly put together, the story stars Steve Reeves as the muscular hero known as the "White Warrior" who leads the defence against the Russians. ("White" in this case refers to his warrior's garb.) Seems Warner Brothers roped Steve Reeves in to a little bit of Russian History, which is very surprising considering this film was made in 1959 when the cold war was entering its height. This is a spin off of Leo Tolstoy Story. The White Warrior, and Steve Steps down from his usual Hercules role to play Hadji Murad the leader of a band of Russian Rebels who are fighting the CZAR. But there is once or twice that Steve runs around minus most of his cloths giving him that Hercules look. Steve is surrounded by beautiful women who are both looking for more the a passing friendship, (Lucky Guy). He has Sultanet: Played by Georgia Moll who in the end when the sunsets he ends up with, and then there is Princess Maria played by Scilla Gabel who is the Czar Goddaughter, and the Czar wants a little more then a Godfather relationship, (Oh how nasty for 1959). and the princess is married to the Czar's second hand man, but even though she is married, the princess wants a little more of Murad (Steve) then she should. Also there is some unsettlement between the ranks of rebels so Steve?s second hand man sets him up. All this provides for a pretty good movie, It came in the Mill Creek 50 Movie Warrior Pack, the only way to buy it to make it worth the money you need to shell out, but I will give it 3 1/2 stars.
